Exceptional Care and Compassion at St. Joseph's Birth Center
From the moment we arrived at the Birth Center at St. Joseph Hospital, we felt supported, cared for, and truly valued. The entire team -- from the nurses and midwives to support staff -- created an environment that was calm, reassuring, and family-centered.
Every detail of our experience reflected professionalism and compassion. The staff took time to explain each step of the process, answer every question, and make sure both mom and baby were safe and comfortable. Their kindness and attentiveness made what could have been a stressful experience feel smooth and empowering.
The unit itself is beautifully maintained -- clean, peaceful, and designed to make families feel at home. You can tell that everyone there genuinely loves what they do and takes pride in delivering the highest quality care.
I can't thank the Birth Center team enough for their expertise, warmth, and humanity. St. Joseph's Hospital truly sets the standard for what compassionate maternity care should be.

I recently went to both St Joseph's and Southern and NEITHER hospital properly listened to me or addressed my pain. Both was waiting for 7+ hours for the bare minimum if that. I have been in excruciating back pain that radiates up and down my back, shoulders neck and legs for nearly a month, and has caused significant weakness/numbness in my legs, feet and hands.
This has greatly affected my physical and mental health, I cant play with my children, I cannot do my job as an LNA, I can hardly lift my infant up or down, I feel unsafe carrying my daughter up/down the stairs etc.
No one has any interest in actually figuring out what is wrong with me. Just send me on my way with muscle relaxers or steroids that do not work or I cannot take. I read report after from the Physician Assistant(St. JOSEPHS) Kendall, who stated I did not report radiating pain or numbness, when I reported both. Didn't even both to scan for injury.
Both refused to do an MRI when all symptoms point to something neurological or an injury like a herniated/bulging disc. I went from feeling defeated to completely and utterly hopeless as it continues to worsen. And I have completely given up finding an answer because of these "doctors." I know what they see. They see a young girl in pain and assume I am drug seeking. I do not want pain medications, I dont want to mask the pain, I just wanted somebody to listen to me and to put in the effort to get an answer and help me get better so my life could go back to normal. This is absolutely not normal whatsover.
Ill never go back for help for any reason, unless it is life or death. Now Im praying its a brain tumor or cancer and it kills me because I cannot get the help I need, and I am in such pain. I have never experienced anything as defeating and frustrating and de humanizing such as the Nashua ER departments. I left both departments bawling not from the pain, but from the frustration and hopelessness and the lack of concern as to why a relatively healthy 27 year old is all of a sudden in debilitating pain.

This hospital seems to be slammed alot. I personally have had 2 surgeries here with over night stays. Ive got nothing but nice things to say. Tory from PACU is the best! Olivia and Autumn are stars as well. A shout out to Diane. This one has been here so long she is part of the woodwork. Thank you so much for making my stay an excellent one.

Last night just after midnight maybe 1/2 past midnight I ended up going into the ER because I was really wheezy and I couldn't get in to see a new primary care provider until March 2026. The experience was great until the doctor, whom I don't know her name, came in. She was of Asian decent, and she spoke to me so rudely and as if I was a 5 year old. And she kept repeating herself like I wasn't understanding her and finally I told her she didn't have to speak to me as if I'm dumb or a child. She also did this in front of 2 other staff members which was embarrassing. She also got louder and louder as she was repeating the same information over and over. I told her I was 44 y/o and have a bachelors degree. I understand what she is saying and her speaking to me like this while I'm not feeling well and came in to get some help, not to be patronized. It was extremely patronizing. She then said she wasn't speaking to me like that and she has her staff to prove otherwise. I told her she was being rude and disrespectful. She then went on to say that I shouldn't be be rude and disrespectful to a medical provider who has 30 years experience and then decided to point her finger at me, as if I was a child being reprimanded and sent to timeout.
I go to St. Joseph's Hospital because the moral from the staff here are just top tier. I've never had a bad experience until last night. And this is what sets St. Joe's apart from SNHMC. I expect that behavior and demeanor from the staff at SNHMC not St. Joe's. She then turned and said she was going to discharge me because of my attitude and she didn't like it. I was in tears until I left there. And the level of care I received resonated because compared to my visit in August for the same symptoms and issues, was extremely different. In August the staff were delightful, they took very good care of me. I had Xrays done just to be sure it wasn't pneumonia. Last night I was given 1 nebulizar treatment, an inhaler with an Opti chamber, and she sent prednisone to my pharmacy . I was in and out of there in less than hour. And when I asked the nurse about an additional nebulizar treatment I just couldn't help but feel as though she just wanted to get rid of me. I was in tears for an hour after I left because when you aren't feeling well, the last thing you want is someone treating you like you're an idiot. And this will completely make think twice about coming here again. And I'm so disappointed because I really thought so highly of St. Joe's, until last night.

I don't typically write reviews, but I felt I need to after the experience we had at the ER at St. Joseph's on Sunday. I took my husband at 10:30pm. Thankfully the ER was not busy and was quiet. After the first round of labs on my husband and hearing symptoms, the ER doctor had already made up her mind on his diagnosis, not at all hearing what we were telling her. But she decided to do some imaging, a simple ultrasound. It took two hours to get the results of the ultrasound. What she was looking at on that was "normal" there for, she was adamant that her initial diagnosis was correct, even though it was blatantly obvious that it was something else. While my husband was in the midst of a horrible attack of pain, I called for the nurse twice to try to get some help for him and although someone answered the call button, no one showed up. When the doctor finally came to give us the US results and realized he was in agony, she had the nerve to state to our faces that she didn't realize he was in such pain and discomfort. This is why we were there in the first place and should have been on his intake documents, but like I said, she had already made her diagnosis, so apparently that didn't matter. When the nurse came to do discharge, she actually apologized because she said no one ever told her that we had called for her, let alone called twice. The lack of care, the lack of hearing the patient floored me. He should have had more imaging, he should have had more tests. We were there six hours, had one round of labs, an EKG, and an ultrasound. Saw the doctor twice briefly and the nurse 3 times... in 6 hours. I am thankful it wasn't busy because lord knows how long we would have been there. I will never ever go to the ER at this hospital again. Inadequate care is not a good thing in the ER.
