I first met Dr. Chouinard when we were in the service together. He was an absolutely fine doctor then and I'm sure even better now. I've taken care of many of his patients and even was one of his patients. He was/is one of the best doctors that I have ever worked with and all his patients loved him too!! Rick on doctor! I read the previous review and it honestly does not sound at all like Dr. Chouinard. I call him my Dr. that actually knows what's going on.. Not just with cardiac but everything. I have had him for 5 years. One time I was having an abdominal surgery and the surgeon said I would be home by noon day of surgery. Dr Chouinard told me.." that's not going to happen. You need to expect several days in the hospital and a few weeks recovery". He hit it on the head with that. And I knew him well enough to know that if he says that's going to happen , that's what's going to happen. He is able to find anything in your charting in a moments time and will look take the time to go back in time over years and years and review things that happened years before. Besides all this, he has always been very friendly with me and we have sometimes talk about our grandkids. He's very nice, not talka tive but willing to talk. Not flashy at all and very down to earth.
Seen him at red oak for a fib. Would not shake my hand because of germs. Took history and done exam. Hardly would talk. Scheduled an echo with receptionist and used hand signal for me to leave. As a veterinarian 16 years in practice I could not believe it. Nurse called 2 weeks later that echo results were normal. I asked what's next? I dunno she replied. I replied get back to me. 2 days later nothing. Your just a number. Congrats dr. Doug.
Dr. Chouinard is very attentive and thorough and so easy to talk to. I wouldn't go to anyone else.
