Laura Schmidt, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist with Saint Luke's Cardiovascular Consultants and on staff at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. Clinical interests include general cardiology, congenital heart disease, heart conditions in pregnancy, peripheral vascular disease and women's cardiovascular health. Dr. Schmidt has been , and continues to be, awesome. My case is quite complicated so doctors tend to either runaway when they see me or think "Oh boy, a challenge!" She is one of the latter, which makes for a great diagnostician and clinician, in my experienced book. I would readily refer others to her. Also, she isn't afraid to say she may not know what is going on, which is another great indicator of excellence.
My appointment time was changed without telling me. I called to question it because I received a message that didn't say who they were, who they were with or anything. Finally I figured out it was St. Luke's when they told me what time to come on a certain day. The First Lady I talked to was very rude, then she passed me off to a scheduler who was even worse. She told me she has glasses so she has 4 eyes, couldn't have been any more disrespectful. I got tired of being disrespected so I finally hung up after telling her 3 times I wanted the appointment cancelled. I've only waited 6 months to get in to se my Dr. Who is wonderful, I might add. Someone needs to cool their jets or get a new job where she can be hateful. It's not gonna be with me.
I saw dr. Schmidt yesterday for first time. She was the best doctor I've seen in years! Her bedside manner was friendly, compassionate, NOT condescending. If you need a cardiologist make an appt. To see her!!!
