Dr. Edwards completed medical school at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica in 2008 before going on to complete an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Rutgers University/Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey in 2017. Dr. Edwards was inspired to become a physician after watching a television show called "The Operation" when she was ten. "Watching real surgeries unfold on screen, I remember feeling amazed -- not just by the science, but by the trust and care involved. That curiosity stayed with me and eventually led me to medicine," Dr. Edwards says.
