I have never had a more validating and comforting experience with a medical professional than I did today with Dr. Steven Gerndt. He was everything that I hoped he would be in a Surgeon/Doctor. It was obvious, immediately, that he genuinely cared about my well-being. He asked me ALL of the relevant questions that related to my condition and then some. He acknowledged my personal research and commended me for it. He made absolutely sure that I understood what was going on inside my body and, most importantly, he was instantly and undeniably honest with me (Which I very much appreciate). Even though he didnt have the greatest of news to bear, he did it without hesitation. I've seen many doctors try to hide the reality and severity of the situation in order to appease a patients concerns. Dr. Gerndt is a straight shooter and, by far, the best Doctor, Surgeon, Medical professional I have ever met and been treated by. I would rate him 10 stars if I could. Also, the whole administrative team was excellent. They were all extremely polite, kind and very understanding. Thank you so much everyone at Bellin Thoracic Surgeory for giving me so much peace at a difficult time!

Dr Grendt did open heart surgery on my husband and we were both impressed with Dr Grendt and his associates. He told the time to explain what was going to happen during my husband's surgery to replace his aortic valve. During the surgery, a nurse came out to update me on progress. After surgery, Dr Grendt talked with me to give me an update on the surgery and what I could expect in my husband's recovery.
I highly recommend Dr Grendt if you need heart surgery.
