I took my time reading reviews of several surgeons in the areas as well as facilities and chose to see Dr. Karne at Beloit Health Systems for issues I was having with fatty liver, elevated liver enzymes, and sludge in my gallbladder. I couldn't have made a better decision than seeing him. Prior to seeing him, I'd spoken to a GI in the Rockford health system who was sadly dismissive and didn't seem to understand my issues. I was so relieved when I chose not to stay in Rockford for care and found Dr Karne in Beloit. He was caring, patient, answered all my questions and took me seriously. He was far better able to explain what was going on in a way that was easy for me to follow. He was reassuring prior to & after my gallbladder removal. Cosmetically, the glue where he was able to perform surgery with robotics left very minimal incision marks on my stomach. With stitches being below the skin, the upper layer of skin was glued and fell off in a few weeks. Everyone's heal time is different and pain is different as it was explained to me. However, I attribute my fast healing, and generally overall feeling so much better, to Dr Karne. I would see him again if I ever need a surgical procedure handled. Also important to note, behind Dr Karne is a nurse named Amanda, who I feel is one of the best nurses I've ever had the privilege of working with. She's very knowledgeable, able to answer every question I had for her, extremely attentive, and naturally kind and empathetic. Thank you both for your amazing care. During something that is scary for a patient, you made me feel assured and that my life, health, and concerns mattered.
