TVC has a hard time keeping staff and their patients pay the price. They have too many patients and cannot provide adequate care for them at any of their multiple locations so patients are left without access to care. They like to hire interns to do most of the heavy lifting, with few doctors on rotation. The doctors will often quit or call out, leaving patients to be rescheduled at the last minute. They have staffing problems, or they overfill their patients because they will not be able to reschedule for another 6 months, leaving patients without care for the better part of a year. The specialty doctors are almost impossible to see, and you will be ignored and sent to urgent care repeatedly. Urgent care is great and they will share your frustration and say that many patients have similar issues with TVC being understaffed and not able to prove adequate care. Their admin will ignore complaints and be rude because they don't think it's important that patients receive care within the year. If you have any chronic illness and need actual medical care I would suggest avoiding TVC because you will not receive ongoing care here. If you see a doctor 1-2 times a year this is a perfect clinic for you.

This place is a disorganized mess. Their during my prenatal appointments their midwives and support staff convinced me that an nipt was an ultrasound and a blood draw. I asked multiple times to confirm because I had only read that it's a blood draw and I had declined all other genetic testing. Based on their insistence that the nipt included an ultrasound, I booked an ultrasound per their referral. I later I found out that the midwife did not order the nipt and instead ordered a different genetic test which is an ultrasound. I submitted a complaint about this and sent them a copy of a message from one of their staff that said in summary that their notes indicate that I declined the other genetic test and it's unclear why I was referred to do that test. They responded in summary: they were closing their investigation of my complaint and if I want the investigation reopened I need seek legal counsel. The result was a multi hundred dollar bill for which I was not prepared. After that their midwives also told me things like: fasting is good for managing blood sugar in pregnancy (the midwife walked this back when I messaged asking for more info; she said she had told me I need to fast for the GD test, but I recall the conversation clearly and she clearly said that fasting is good for managing blood sugar.) and that the covid vaccine doesn't change year to year. Also when I was first asked whether I felt baby move, I said yes, and the midwife responded a clearly rehearsed response to the expected answer "no." I completely do not recommend their midwife team. They're absent minded and speak without thinking. They are not accountable for what they say. And the fact that their admin team told me to hire a lawyer when I sent them a copy of the message admitting that something went wrong is just insane to me. Now I'm trying to book my post partum follow ups and I've been transferred around and on hold for 30 minutes cuz no one answering the phones knows who to transfer me to and everyone says it's not them. I don't recommend the Vancouver clinic for anything.

I have very little to complain about with the quality of healthcare I've received from TVC. I remained a patient despite the long drive time after moving from Vancouver to Southwest Portland. That said, the back office is a hot mess. I had a recent immunization appointment, made weeks in advance, cancelled less than 60 minutes before the appointed time. They literally called to cancel as I was pulling into their parking lot. The person who cancelled the appointment indicated it was because of regulatory issues. The person who engaged with my complaint about this horrid process claimed it was due to a lack of vaccine inventory. They cannot explain the inconsistent messaging. Adding insult to injury, the check-in process for all appointments requires (re)signing TVC's cancellation policy, which assesses patients a $50 fee for cancellations with less than 24 hours notice. Needless to say, they're not offering me $50 for the last minute cancellation, despite my loss of a day from work, the wasted drive, and other sunk costs that total up to a lot more than $50. Despite the inconsistent messaging, I'm sympathetic to whatever issue caused the cancellation. I don't believe it was deliberate. The choice to give me less than an hour of notice was deliberate, or at the very least, avoidable with a better process. It hardly feels like an unreasonable ask that they cancel the night before. I didn't need the 24 hours notice they demand from their patients. A mere 3 hours notice would have been enough to save a wasted trip and lost day of work. :(

I have 4 specialists that my husband and i are fortuinate to have at VC. A Pulmonologist, endocrinologist, rheumatologist and cardiologist all of which are great specialists. I would confidently recommend each of them to family and friends. Especially Dr Gienapp pulmonary doctor and Dr Noel Lee i. Cardiology department. The ONLY disappointment we have is we have yet to find a primary doctor out of VC. Seems that if you are on Medicare it's almost impossible to obtain a primary/GP hopefully they will open that into seniors.

I love the Vancouver Clinic and am sad I won't be going there for care since I moved to Oregon. I can't say enough about their level of care, the efficiency of their system, quick responses and appointment availability and super friendly staff. It is a well-run facility with top level care.
