Thomas (TJ) Templin, II, MD, is board-certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery. He specializes in cardiothoracic surgery for patients ages 15 and older. Dr Templin has trained extensively in minimally invasive thoracic and foregut procedures, including minimally invasive lung and esophageal resections, sympathectomy, and anti-reflux revisions. He also has experience with advanced bronchoscopy and esophagoscopy, including EBUS, airway and esophageal stenting, and esophageal dilation.
Dr Templin follows the Jesuit philosophy of cura personalis, which translates to care for the whole person; he treats individuals, not just diseases.
Dr Templin is a Fellow of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Templin made this experience as good as it could possibly be. I've never had a major surgery and was nervous about this procedure. He was serious, professional and detailed in going through the steps in order to get insurance agree to cover the removal of my Hiatal Hernia. I was prescribed acid blockers and took pH & Esophagram tests to better understand that this procedure was necessary. The surgery was swift & I was up walking around the hospital and feeling as good as could be almost immediately after. He and his team were very helpful in dealing with the liquid diet that follows the procedure, an important step, given how difficult that can be. I highly recommend him for any procedure.

4 weeks ago today Dr.Templin performed a very difficult para esophageal with fundoplication surgical repair for me. I had been suffering with bleeding and all the side effects that go along with a bad para esophageal hernia. He is very kind, knowledgeable and reassuring when dealing with his patients and staff. He did the surgery robotically and because of his skills I felt better immediately. I couldn't be more grateful to this surgeon. He literally saved my life.
