Jon Boyum, M.D., is a thoracic surgeon in Spokane, Washington. He joined MultiCare Rockwood Clinic in January 2014. He is a graduate of Gonzaga University and the University of Washington School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery training at the University of Vermont, before serving in the Army as a general surgeon with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He then completed his thoracic surgery training at OHSU and now works in Spokane as a General Thoracic Surgeon.
Dr. Boyum is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and is a member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. His special interests include minimally invasive surgery and a variety of complex VATS procedures.

Dr. Boyum performed my lung lobectomy to remove a carcinoid tumor. When we first met with him, he gave us clear answers of what to expect with the removal of the lower lung, answering our questions and giving us confidence that it was the right path of treatment. The day of the procedure, he went over everything again and kept my fiance in the loop of what was going on. He gave us a realistic timeline of when I would be able to go home from the hospital and what I needed to do to heal. At our follow up appointment, he confirmed that we made the correct choice. My down time after surgery was about 3 weeks, and recovery has gone smooth. I would recommend Dr. Boyum and his team!!

Dr Boyum performed a very delicate surgery for me earlier this year. I had a tumor behind my left clavicle which was identified as an extremely rare cancer and it was not certain that the tumor could be removed without doing further damage.
Dr Boyum was recommended by my oncologist as being the best thoracic surgeon in the area. When I met with him he carefully explained all the risks and options. I was reluctant at first, but he was very understanding of that. Based on my consultation with him I went ahead with the surgery.
Employing the latest surgical technology Dr Boyum was able to remove virtually all the tumor which was located in an extremely difficult anatomical location.
