When I first moved here from Southern California, this hospital was not what it looks like today. They were doing a lot of the ground work for it but now it's 10 years later and it looks really nice. The parking could use some adjustment but it's not too terrible and it's actually easy to pick up and drop off someone if they know their way around and can meet you outside. I will say those conveniences are good. I know this place gets a lot of bad reviews for its past services. I actually know someone who had a terrible experience at this hospital 20+ years ago, and refuses to come here, but I also know someone who has a heart condition and we see several doctors at this location for them. The heart specialist building at least I think it's for heart it could be for just specialist and doctors in general, but it has a floor. I want to say that's dedicated to people with heart conditions and we've seen Dr. Reddy, Dr Goleski and Dr. Johnson. My friend (who I attend her visits with her) has gone from thinking she was going to die every single day to looking forward to living longer. So far everywhere I've went it has been very clean. The nurses are very helpful. The cafeteria is abundant and has lots of great options and a very helpful chef who doesn't get mad when you ask him questions for five minutes and then decide not to order anything. And there's also a Starbucks at one of the entrances. If you find you are waiting for some time for someone it's not a bad place to walk around outside there's some stairs leading to different areas where you can find seating and look out at the mountains and the view of the water. This hospital was built for the views! There are gorgeous views out of every window. So if you're in the need of an emergency and you might have to spend a night or two or more I don't think this is a bad choice. I think the doctors here at least in the heart division really care all of the assistants and nurses are really kind and patient and some of them are also funny and should be comedians. I hope you never end up here in an emergency but if you do, I hope you have a good experience as we have. And a shout out to Dr Goleski and Dr Reddy! So awesome! You saved my friends life!

My husband was directed to the ER at St. Michaels late on Sunday night for an increasingly painful lower abdomen. He was quickly seen in the ER, referred to a surgeon and had an emergency procedure to relieve his incarcerated colon. The quick response prevented damage to the colon, and he is on his way to recovery. We are so grateful to the professional and proficient staff who cared for him from the surgeon to the CNA taking vital signs. We cannot thank St. Michaels's for the excellent care that made this scary event turn into a positive experience for us. Thank you.

I can't begin to share how amazing our experience was at St. Michael's. A DD family member needed emergency surgery and was terrified. From the team at VM urgent care in Bremerton, to the surgeon who called to arrange his transfer directly to surgery center, bypassing ER and admissions, to the care team before/during/ and after surgery, the support and compassion was outstanding at every level. We couldn't be more confident in and happy with the empathy and kindness we and our family member received. Kudos to the entire health care team. As someone who works in healthcare - I recognize how challenging this can be and they all went way above and beyond any expectations. Well done!

STAY AWAY. Despite 10+-level pain, it took several hours to even get back to a room. We then waited another thirty minutes with zero communication before we went to find a nurse, only to find the nurses snacking and chatting with each other. Their call buttons are useless - later, after finally getting some treatment (well over four hours after arriving), we waited over thirty minutes after pressing the button and no one ever came. We finally just walked out after approximately six hours of waiting with less than twenty minutes of actual care that included three attempts before successfully inserting an IV. To top that off, no one even called to check in or follow up to find out what happened. For all we know, they didn't even notice we'd left. And, after fifteen years of coming here, this was by no means the first time we've had this type of experience. To justify their lack of service, the Director of the Emergency Department claimed that "the average ER visit is approximately six hours" (?!?), yet the national ER visit average in 2024 was approximately two hours and forty-two minutes (and even slightly less in WA). That should tell you something about how this hospital is run. Bottom line: we could take a ferry to Seattle and still be seen faster while getting better care. Please don't bother responding to me about contacting Patient Relations - I already did, and that was useless lip service. You had the opportunity to make things right and you chose not to, instead providing justifications using factually incorrect information. Barring a life-or-death situation, we'll never go to your hospital again and would advise others to go elsewhere whenever possible.

I went in for swollen lymph node which is completely visible/noticable and hard, vomiting, headaches, body aches, abdominal pain, water in my left ear and both sides of my head hurting. I was having trouble breathing and I had to wait over an hour to get seen. I was lead to one of the locking/ grippy sock rooms and had to then sit there in agonizing pain. I had been throwing up before I got there and was feeling terrible. The doctor was nice and polite so he leaves to go get my blood work checked. But while I'm in agonizing pain I just want comfort so I try to cuddle my fiance on the bed because he is the one who grounds me. Nurse Kylynn (RN BSN) comes in with a security guard saying that we were being "inappropriate" and that "this behavior is unacceptable for the ER"... Both of us are fully clothed, not having sex, me just hungry and in pain wanting comfort from the only support system I have in the room. (We were literally laying on the bed and he gave me back scratches because I was really itchy from some earlier medicine) No sorry or explanation as to why. Is it wrong that I want comfort when I'm in pain?
