Patient
When I went for an initial consultation, Dr. Kim made assumptions about me as a person based on my weight. I am obese, but very active. He made sure to go over everything that could possibly go wrong with the surgery (spine fusion). When he finished I asked him, if it were him needing the spinal surgery. if he would do it as it sounded like I would die on the table. He said, that wasn't what he was saying. However, when you spend 3/4 of the appointment telling me everything that could go wrong, and little that could go right I would think it would discourage one from going forward. Fast forward to day of surgery, he and my primary surgeon apparently began the surgery, I was cut, and then Dr. Kim decided he was uncomfortable and aborted the procedure. When my son spoke with my primary surgeon he said he had performed this surgery on other patients my size and larger with success and had never had Dr. Kim stop a surgery before. I found Dr. Kim to have little "bedside" manner nor did he come speak to me after I was moved to recovery to explain why he allowed my surgeon to cut me only to stop the procedure. He may be a good surgeon, however his assumptions about me were off putting and I am in the process of seeing a surgeon who will safely finish what was started.
