Buckley A Eckert, MD

Dr. Buckley has been the best primary care physician that I have seen in three years since moving to Washington. I had scheduled a one off appointment with him because the timing worked out better than to get into my regular doctor. He really listened to my concerns and medical history and asked great questions that made it apparent to me he heard me. He order tests to rule out potential issues. He asked me to schedule a follow up with my regular doctor and I asked to come back to see him. He was informed, caring, and had great bedside manner! I highly recommend him.

My parents and I all saw Dr. Eckert for several years, and each of us decided to leave for different primary physicians over separate incidents. He decides whatever his first idea for treatment is best and will not budge, regardless of patients' preferences or objections, and he refuses to explain or discuss his reasoning. I finally left when he threatened to cut me off my depression medication cold turkey if I didn't start seeing him more frequently. I had asked to make less frequent visits because I was having trouble affording the trips and check ups, and nothing had changed in my treatment or my condition in over two years. Instead he effectively threatened to hold my meds ransom, telling me in no uncertain terms that if I didn't do exactly as he said he would cancel all my prescriptions immediately. When I told him it sounded like an ultimatum, not a treatment plan, he laughed in my face and told me he "isn't negotiating" about it. I had been his patient for well over a decade. He would not address my concerns, wouldn't answer my questions, wouldn't explain causes of ailments or reasoning for his solutions, and wouldn't discuss any treatment options. He has his assistants do the majority of the work and spends as little time as possible with the patient. He is dismissive and condescending, acting like he obviously knows the solution and anything that doesn't work must be the patient's fault. Maybe this was acceptable 35 years ago, but I feel a "family physician" should have higher standards.

I've been going here for years and seeing Dr eckert among others. Staff is always nice and helpful and prompt.
