It's sad that centra don't care about the community but only the bottom line
I have had several issues with Centra Health
I have left other reviews and filled out their surveys but not a word from them
My newest issue started in June or July of 2025. My doctor also with CMG said I was in stage three kidney failure after some lab work
She was sending me to a kidney specialist Sometime in august and many calls. I stop at my doctors office and asked what the holdup was getting me a referral for the specialist.
All kinds of excuses were given but only after I said I was going to the top of centra I got help. So now to today 10/30/25 I still have not received any treatment but many scans I had a scan 7 days ago and the results are still not read. I am waiting to a new scan today so I asked the lady at the desk about the ct that was done 7 days ago and she said they have not read them yet
So jump back a few weeks ago and I was at another doctors office who ordered theses scans. The lady that was checking me out said that she would call me later that day either these two scan dates. I ended up calling her back two days later and again the next day only to be told that she would call me by the end of the day. Later I learned that she forgot to set up my appointment.
Centra please feel free to call me about this issue and the others if you care about the patient and the community ( I know you won't)

Centra billing department needs to be more proficient in explaining charges. ER wait times is another troubling situation. Spending over 11 hours in the ER for kidney stones is not acceptable.

Over and over same problems. You pay at time of service or you don't see Dr., and then they manage to screw it up. Appt. early April; Paid Visit' Get Bill for Visit in an Email. Now they want "me" check my charge statement to see "They're" mistake. Get with the program people. My time is very important.

My daughter was taken to the ER due to suicidal ideation and per the psychiatrist my daughter has to be taken to the psych ward. At that time there were no rooms available at the ward in Lynchburg. She has to be admitted at the hospital more than 3 hours away. However, we were not allowed to bring our daughter ourselves. She was minor at that time and it's the law that the hospital would transport her themselves. Now, we are being billed $5000 for the transport. Our insurance will not pay because they didn't bill it correctly. The insurance claim that they bill it as not emergency. We called Centra to correct the billing. They claim that they billed it correctly. Nothing was done during the transport to my daughter except drive her there. No medical procedures that were done. If we take her ourselves we wouldn't be facing a $5000 responsibility. We tried to plead with them to bill correctly requested by our insurance but they just insist they are correct. As if the amount is just nothing. It's a huge bill for us . They are just so dismissive about it. One of the times we called , we told them that we can't afford to pay this and may seek legal advise, the lady on the phone kinda laughed. So uncaring and compassion. I hope no one else will have the same experience.

Reviewing both the CMG Women's Center and the Bedford Emergency Room. I want to preface, I understand it is a high stress job and not everyone one can do it. I greatly appreciate healthcare workers, but our experience at both locations was quite poor.
Bedford: We waited for several hours (which is completely normal and expected), and were taken back for blood work. The nurse failed to stick my wife with a needle 10-15 times and in the process got blood all down my pregnant wife's arm, the chair, and floor. When the nurse was done, she left without cleaning anything. We waited in the room for roughly 20 minutes without anyone checking on us, at which point I stepped out to see if someone would clean the blood up for us. A nurse came in, wiped my wife's hand, handed her the towel and said you can press that on your arm if you want, then left. All the while there is still blood on the chair and floor. We were then told my wife needed a Rhogam shot for the baby. When we asked what Rhogam was the doctor poorly explained what it was then told us "I would print out a better description of what it is, but the printer is out of paper. You can always Google it for more information." Not a very great experience unfortunately.
CMG Women's Center: We were told that our insurance may not cover an ultrasound (understandably) but we should submit a claim regardless. They informed us that without insurance our cost would be $230. We agreed that was a very affordable price and thanked them. We received our bill nearly six months later to find a $1690 charge for the ultrasound. Fast forward 5 calls to the billing department and 4 months later the charges are still under review and we are unsure of what our bill is. Sweet people and good care, but a poor experience with billing.
Once again, thank you to the wonderful healthcare workers who work so hard day to day.
