Paula Pinell-Salles, MD, FACC

Been using Virginia Heart, specifically Dr. Pinnell-Salles, for several years and she has been great! She is very down to earth, great communication skills and is quick to follow-up after testing. Highly, recommend if you are having any heart-related issues.

Wonderful experience. Great advisement that stopped my pregnancy related issues. Took all the proper precautions in tests to ensure no other risks. Easy to correspond with between appointments and easy to talk with at the appointment. Glad I don't have a deeper concern but if I did I feel like I'd be in good hands. Highly recommend

I went to Dr. Pinell-Salles because I was recommended to her by my primary care physician after my first heart attack. I felt more comfortable with going to a female cardiologist because I'm a woman and thought that going to a female doctor would in my best interest. I was further reassured by the fact that I saw Dr. Pinell Salles in the videos on the TV monitors when I visited the Virginia Heart offices on Telstar in Falls Church Fairfax. Dr. Pinell has a good bedside manner and remembers to read her notes before she visits with you. She will remember something about you that makes you feel good. She has a regular question, like "How's it going with your . . ." She is also very nice when you meet with her and takes good and thorough notes. Here are the reasons I WOULD NOT recommend Dr. Paula: 1. Something is wacky with booking an appointment to see her. You call one day and they don't have any appointments for her for 6 months, and you call another and they have an appointment that "just opened up" in a 2 weeks. Let's be honest, in the age of zocdoc and other services I can get an appointment with a cardio tomorrow, what special service are you offering that it's worth a 2 week wait, worse yet, 6 month wait? 2. She and her staff will literally forget which pharmacy to order your meds from. Dr. Pinnell, or her staff, to this day I am unsure who put in the order for my meds, but they put it in at the wrong pharmacy and cost me an extra $300. I could not argue the charge with the pharmacy as the doctor had ordered it and I had to pay and extra $300. 3. Throughout COVID and even after they would not let my husband into the waiting room with me. I mean, come on, we're wearing masks, we're keeping distance. This does not make any sense. 4. The office tells you to communicate via the Virginia Heart Portal but you will never get a reply from Dr. Pinnell directly, and her staff is about as unresponsive as communicating with the IRS on tax day, so I find the Portal a complete waste of time. You have to generally send a message through the portal, and when they do not reply a day later ask, "Hey, did you get my message?" I will continue to check in with Virginia Heart and Dr. Pinell and hope to update this review upon my next interaction with her team.

The ABSOLUTE BEST! My mother, husband, and now 3 of my friends all call Dr Pinell-Salles their cardiologist. Thorough, thoughtful, patient, and all around one of the best docs around!
