Zhu Xiaolan MD

Dr Zhu is a true healer. She embodies the perfect combination of Eastern and Western medicine. She has helped me tremendously.i really appreciate being so lucky to be under her care and her excellent training, abilities, intelligence and healing talents. She is also a very good person. Her front desk staff is also wonderful, thorough, very capable and kind. Her office is immaculately clean and has a very relaxing atmosphere. In Dr. Zhu's office, I am always mindful of what a wonderful doctor she is , the great office she has and how lucky I am to be under her care. All the many great reviews -more well said than mine- are true. In the world of medical professional physicians-Dr Zhu is indeed a unique treasure.

Both my husband and I have been seeing Dr. Zhu for almost 20 years and we are very happy for the care she has been giving to us. She is a very experienced Doctor with most updated medical knowledge. She is patient, compassionate and thoughtful. Most important, she always makes right diagnosis and gives the best treatment she can. Staff is friendly and always answers the phone promptly.

I have been seeing Dr. Zhu for almost 20 years. And I am consistently very happy with the care I have received. She is always very thorough and patient. She always reminds me necessary exams I need to take to monitor my health. And the staff is very helpful and friendly. Always willing to accommodate if I need urgent care.

Dr. Zhu is a hidden gem. I love that her office is clean and simple, with no distracting TVs or music. Her staff are professional and helpful. Dr. Zhu approaches health issues from both the Western and Eastern perspectives and is highly knowledgeable about both as an MD and acupuncturist. She's also a good listener and open to her patients' preferences. I've been receiving acupuncture for an injured shoulder - including electroacupuncture to enhance the treatment - and I felt immediate relief after the first session. Not to mention the acupuncture room has a heated bed and is dark and relaxing -- I even heard birds chirping while I received the treatment.

Had enough of the unresponsiveness of her office. It usually took at least 1-3 days to get a call back because she does not have someone picking up the phone even on a daily basis to make appointments. This time it took them 10 days. A lukewarm apology doesn't cut that anymore. I needed urgently an appointment because I was in pain due to a car accident (and left a message accordingly) and one for a regular check up. Because she would not let me have all my concerns taken care of in one visit - previously I had to schedule another one. Supposedly my Insurance company required that. I'm guessing it had more to do with her being paid more when there are two visits. Causing me to have to wait again for an appointment that could not be scheduled right away. At my last personal visit she obviously had no notes about my previous visit and I definitely know that and when I was there because I needed quite a few tests and an okay from her to travel to my home country to donate stem cells for my brother's leukemia treatment. She is connected to Inova but since she keeps only handwritten records they are not in the system and visible to my other doctors or me. I can understand that she cares a lot about her grandchild but canceling appointments, that are difficult to get in the first place?! All in all I had been very patient but come to the conclusion: This doctor organizes her office just not professional enough.
