MedStar Health: Cardiac Electrophysiology at Fairfax

I had a referral from my cardiologist to see Dr. Sarfraz A Durrani MD about a watchman procedure. When I arrived Dr Durrani laid out all the information answering all of my questions. I was also impressed with his reception staff. I always try to send my medical information ahead prior to my visit. One of his staff, Aneesha Gamble was very helpful and patient in accomplishing this via e-mail with attachments and greatly appreciated her assistance. This far, a great experience

When my wife lost her insurance, I had to change my own coverage--and what initially felt like a setback turned out to be a blessing. It led me to Dr. Durrani, and for the first time in years, I feel hopeful about the possibility of a full recovery. During our first meeting, Dr. Durrani explained that my ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) should have significantly improved my heart function. However, he discovered that the lead placement wasn't optimized, which likely contributed to the poor performance after surgery. My heart's pumping ability only improved by 10% following the ICD procedure, and another 10% after my medication was adjusted. Dr. Durrani found it concerning that the medication had a greater impact than the device itself. After reviewing my EKG, he expressed genuine optimism about my potential for full recovery. That alone gave me renewed hope. I'll be undergoing an MRI soon to assess the extent of scarring that has developed over the past six years. For the first time, I have a real option to address the electrical issues in my heart--and possibly even remove the ICD. I'm looking forward to working closely with Dr. Durrani and trust his guidance as we move forward with further testing. Above all, I trust in the Lord and pray that everything aligns for me to continue this journey toward complete healing.

Dr. Fischer is an outstanding doctor. Took time to explain everything patiently even though she had probably done it thousands of times before. Super nice and caring, and competent!

My experience with the office, staff, and doctors has always been top notch. They expertly take care of everything and explain technical medical matters in terms I understand. I feel very safe to have them in my corner!
