I don't know where to begin. However, saying I was extremely lucky to have been treated by Dr Thompson would be an understatement. I have seen many doctors last year for shortness of breath and fatigue, many of whom said I have no problem. Dr Thompson actually took the time to look into my symptoms, and re run some tests to get the most accurate results. Needless to say, he was able to figure out what could have been the issue, and I had my procedure soon after. After 6 months, I cannot believe the amount of things that I missed in my life due to my past condition. This procedure has literally changed the way I live my life! Thanks to him, I now can work out, run and do all the activities which were impossible before, without any problems!! If you are reading this comment, please know that you will be in great hands, Dr Thompson is one of the best doctors that I have ever met, and he will definitely look after you in anyway he can. His team is extremely professional and will help you along the way with anything that you need.

Over 4 years ago Dr. Thompson closed a hole in my heart. I am adult and I was told he was the best to fix it. My regular cardiologist assisted only. Dr. Thompson explained everything clearly. The surgery went well and I was up and about the next day. So happy. I have heard he has made even more advances in the surgery since I had it. Highly recommend this doctor.

With my experience everything was very rushed. They told me everything was a go. Had all documents and I was scheduled for procedure. Unfortunately the same time of my surgery NC was going to be hit with Hurricane Florance so I evacuated early with my family. We were in our hotel for several days before I received a phone call from Dr T asking if I was already in Virginia. I told him yes and how long I had been there. He then tells me several people were fired and there was issues with my insurance. Tells me the hospital may not do the procedure. I'm in total shock and tell him it's not my fault his office messed up and he needs to make this right. We hang up and he immediately calls back and says everything was going to be approved through a charity and equipment was being donated so he'd still see me at my pre op appointment the very next day! I show up do all these tests I had no idea I even had to do but understood why I was doing them. All of a sudden I have no hole and he couldn't pull up my echo? Said he didn't think he actually received an echo and just received a diagnosis and was trusting the doctors. I'm in such shock I couldn't process anything. Balling crying. Dragged my whole family out there while our home was getting hit by a hurricane. He didn't even show me the screens. Hospital has no notes of this charity. Told me that he is so positive I don't have a hole that if I do he will fly me back out to Virginia pay for my hotel and everything else would be paid for. Then he goes on to tell me that there are false-positives and false-negatives and they happen all the time so I asked him how he can be so sure that he's so positive and he says that he is the most qualified person in the US and no one else is more qualified than him. He said it would be malpractice to go in with a catheter to confirm if I have a hole or not. He then tells me to come back into the office so he can show me the echo results (what he should have shown me while I was there when I was in shock) but I refused. I go to a new cardiologist today and he sets me up with an appointment at the hospital to do a TEE sedation bubble study next month to confirm or deny if I have a hole. He said machines only can tell you so much and the only real way to know for sure is if you have a hole or if you don't is for them to go into your body with a camera... I've heard amazing things about him and so did the cardiologist I saw today but I'm telling you to make sure he goes over all of your scans and is 95% positive before he makes you travel, spend money you don't have. He kept telling me he's sorry that he doesn't get everybody's Echo and if he had gotten my echo which he still wants me to send him by the way so he could tell me why and how I was misdiagnosed he would still have ran those tests which is fine but if he saw my echo like I was told he could have stopped me from coming out there. I think that's the most important piece of information that his office should have before anybody travels is an echo scan and it's almost as if he didn't even look at my patient information until I was there in his office. I didn't even have enough time to fill out my paperwork while I was in the office. Now if they confirm next month just like the other lady is that I do have a hole I can't trust him to close it with Noble Stitch but it's causing such issues in my day-to-day life so what do I do? If I had known that they never received an echo and weren't fully prepared I would have never traveled with my family including my two special needs children leaving my home finding places for my animals to go. So even if I do not have a hole I completely put this on his office. I'm glad he was a savior for a lot of you I really am but he has completely destroyed me if I do have this hole after all. The emotional, physical, financial stress I have gone through in such a short amount of time between all of this and being locked out of my home state and now finding out my dog has cancer when I could have been here spending more time with my dog I am beyond devastated.
