My experience with Dr. Parente, spanning over 30 years, has been truly outstanding. He is, above all, a good person--deeply respected and admired by his peers. I have had the great fortune of being treated by him and have always trusted his diagnosis and advice completely. Dr. Parente leads an excellent team of nurses and physicians who reflect his professionalism and kindness. It is truly a grace to be under Dr. Parente's care.

We went to Dr. Parente for a follow up to go over my husbands 28 day heart monitor results and discuss what could have caused his stroke at 38. You can tell Dr. Parente has been doing this job for many years but that he has a very old school approach. We appreciate his suggestion to use protective coated aspirin to avoid acid reflux. Dr. Parente did not want to answer our questions and the more we asked the more annoyed he seemed to become. His only focus was prevention and he seemed to think medicine alone was sufficient. He brushed off our concerns about the SVT on my husband's monitor results. A few days later my husband felt palpitations and dizziness. When we suggested a TEE Dr. Parente told us that even if they found a PFO they most likely would not close it and the procedure wasn't necessary. If his focus is echocardiography like it says in his bio he would know that finding a PFO can cut the risk of reoccurring stroke by 45% more than blood thinners alone. He brushed us off until we begged and angrily gave us a referral"for our mental clarity"and wrote "health anxiety and "presumed TIA".He did not care to see any of my husband's previous results that would have proven a stroke had been found on both MRI and CT scans TEE results: PFO with moderate right to left shunting applying abdominal pressure. Spontaneous right to left shunting noted. Suggestions of a borderline interatrial septal aneurysm. Dr. Luy performed the TEE and does believe that my husband's PFO is large enough to warrant closure. My husband will be going for a closure consultation later this month and we will not be seeing Doctor Parente again
