Dr. Layne K. Kamalu, MD

Dr.Kamalu has been great to work with. He's retired Air Force. He has helped with my FAA Medical exams. I love that he's not in a giant building working for a large clinic.

had a very troubling experience with Dr. Kamalu was on Suboxone under his care and recently saw another licensed doctor for mental health treatment. After finding out, Dr. Kamalu abruptly refused to continue my treatment -- claiming he had a policy that patients cannot see any other doctors while under his care. The issue is, this "policy" was never communicated to me verbally or in writing, and I was never asked to sign anything agreeing to it. Had I known, I would have brought it up earlier or considered other options. It felt like a controlling move rather than a decision made in my best medical interest. To make matters worse, he refused to help me taper off the medication safely, essentially cutting me off rather than providing patient-centered care. This experience felt unethical and unprofessional. Patients deserve transparency, respect, and autonomy -- not surprises and power plays. I would not recommend this provider to anyone seeking open, honest, and supportive medical care.

Dr. Kamalu is very caring and compassionate and treats you like an old friend. Very knowledgeable and has helped me manage my weight and chronic autoimmune condition. I would recommend him to anyone

I have been seeing Dr Kamalu for almost 4 years now and if you're looking for an overall amazing, caring, supportive and encouraging providers.. then Dr Layne Kamalu is the best Dr out there!! Not only does he ALWAYS prioritize helping, he is truly one of a kind the way that he cares and truly puts all of his patients best interest at heart. I saw Dr. Kamalu around 2 years from now for a simple back injury my visit was airing on the side of caution as well as looking for a new provider due to change in insurance never liked big providers like intermountain and tanner clinic just due to how impersonal the drs tend to be. However I made a huge mistake by straying to a more privately owned practice. Dr kamalu was not only not empathetic as many other reviews have said he was down right discouraging (probably from the years of serving Israel) i told him i was a powerlifter and was concerned about my back health due to a recent sprain ( which was nothing ) dr kamalu told me i should quit training and try something else even though that's what I loved to do and there were no obvious signs of serious injury he then asked me what my numbers were on my deadlift and i replied 425 he said see your not even good at it (actual quote ) my buddy in college deadlifted 600 he was a real powerlifter (actual quote ). so after that meeting i was devastated but unlike dr kamalu (if you can call him a dr) I dont embrace quitting like he has and recently hit a 612 lb dealdift recently with no pain or issues am I a real powerlifter now layne??? do my problems matter can we solve them in my best intrest do i deserve that? I pray for your kids having a weak man to look up to is traumatic also you are an embarrassment to the flcc they are heroes and do not conduct themselves as weak unlike yourself hopefully you lose your license soon for the sake of the great community of kaysville
