Patient
I had my gallbladder removed at Surgicare Baylor Waxahachie and I want to share my experience so that other patients are fully informed. One day before my surgery I received a call saying that I had a balance due, even though I had completed all of the required forms correctly. On the day of the surgery, the atmosphere did not feel friendly and I did not receive clear explanations about what to expect. After the procedure, I was discharged without any nausea medication and the pain medication I was given was not appropriate for someone who had been fasting. A few hours later I began vomiting nonstop, including vomiting blood. I went to the Baylor Waxahachie ER, but after several hours without being seen, I had to leave. My condition worsened, and we had to call 911. The ambulance took me to Ennis Regional Medical Center. There, they provided IV fluids, nausea medication, and well-tolerated pain medication. They also performed a CT scan that showed trapped air near my lung and another pocket of air extremely close to my heart, which explained the severe pain and nausea. The difference in care between the two facilities was dramatic. This experience caused additional medical expenses and physical suffering that could have been avoided. I am sharing this so others can make informed decisions.
