Dr. Jai Varma is an excellent cardiologist. He is very thorough and he takes care of his patients. He doesn't rush, and explains very clearly his patients' requirements and well being. My wife and myself are his patients.....we are relieved !! Another person I am giving a 5-star ***** to is Susan, a supervisor working at Legacy Heart Center. She is an outstanding person always ready to help. I hope more and more staff at Legacy Heart Center follow Susan's exemplary service.
My 86 year old step Dad had emergency heart surgery. He had 90% blockage and 60% blockage on two heart valves. We took him to Baylor's Heart Hospital in Plano and Dr. Jai Varma did the surgery. He needed a stent put in. The surgery only took a few hours and my Step Dad was rolled back in his room giving us a thumbs up saying he was hungry! We are thoroughly satisfied! Their saying he should be released tomorrow! Good work doc!
Dr. Varma and staff were amazing. I was nervous about my appointment but everyone there made me feel very comfortable and welcome. The clinic is super convenient and easy to get in to. Dr. Varma was very respectful, calmly telling me what he thought the best treatment plan was, was very thorough and helpful. He listened to my worries and was very soothing. I'm very happy to have him as my Cardiologist!
Saw Dr. Varma a couple of times and things seemed to go well. He is a man of few words so the visits were quick. Had a routine 6 month visit and he walked in the exam room with no computer or any kind of paper work. He quickly gave me a diagnosis and said I had to come back for a test. Things didn't seem right and he left too quickly for me to ask any questions. I left puzzled. On my way home a staff member, not Dr. Varma, called me to say he had gotten me mixed up with another patient. The diagnosis he gave me was not mine and the test he said I needed was not necessary. I knew then he was not the doctor for me and haven't seen him since. I have a new cardiologist.
Communication is certainly not a hallmark of this office. Prescription renewals, appointment confirmations and returned phone calls are always a challenge. Aside from the marginal customer service, I would like for Dr. Varma to be more assertive. Most of the time he doesn't know what meds I am taking. Quite concerning. My family doctor gives me more advice about my heart health than does Dr. Varma. After five years, I have decided it's time to look for a new cardiologist.
