My elderly mother recently had an appointment with Dr. Scott E. Ewing for medical clearance ahead of a dental procedure. Dr. Ewing himself was very kind and attentive--he even walked my mom and husband up to the front desk after the visit and instructed the staff to go ahead and fax the clearance. Unfortunately, the clearance was never sent.
When my husband followed up today (after the dental office notified us they hadn't received anything), he was met with an extremely rude response from the front desk. The person who answered made it seem like it was a huge inconvenience to even check, offering a variety of excuses--one being that they "have lots of faxes and just file them in a box" for the doctor to sort through. That is completely unacceptable, especially considering the doctor gave direct instructions to send the clearance.
I work at the front desk of a very busy family practice myself, and I would never treat a patient or their family this way. The lack of professionalism and accountability left us feeling frustrated and helpless. I now have to rearrange my own schedule just to find time to call back and file a complaint with the practice manager.
It's unfortunate that such a good doctor is being represented so poorly by his front office. Very disappointed.

My Mom only gets to see the PA. The office is not helpful and phone calls and follow ups are non-existent. I recently did all the paperwork to help my Mom get relief for her Eloquis and it has fallen on deaf ears. I guess they get a kick-back from the pharmaceutical company.

I had an appointment here today to be cleared for an upcoming surgery and Dr. Ewing was caring, compassionate, and thorough! He took the time to discuss several things with me. I never felt rushed. I've never felt more comfortable around a Doctor. (And I've had to be around a lot of them here recently)
All the ladies in the office were so nice also.

If I could give a rating of negative stars I would. This doctor office does not care about its patients. If you have a choice DO NOT CHOSE DR Ewing. My significant other had a heart attack and had a stent placed while in the hospital due to a blood clot blockage. He does not have a cardiologist or a PCP. He was told to follow up in 2-3 weeks with Dr Ewing. His insurance is from a different state. When i made the follow up appointment i discussed this with the person setting up the appointment and was assured that if there was an issue we could work it out as it was very important that he was seen. So we show up at the appointment, fill out what seems like 100 pages of paperwork, then get told they don't accept his insurance so he cant be seen. I explain that he doesn't have any doctors to follow up with and that Dr Ewing placed a stent in a blood clot 3 weeks ago in the hospital, The lady calls someone on the phone and tells me since it was only a stent and not a device that he should go see a doctor that accepts his insurance. I again told her that that he didn't have one and we were on a list but its 60-90 to get an appointment. I asked if he would be alright waiting 60-90 days for a follow up.. She said I'm not guaranteeing anything just that he cant be seen here. She never even offered that I pay for the appointment (I would have put it on a credit card) by this time my significant other is embarrassed that I'm "Making a scene" (Honestly I wasn't) In my opinion it is morally and ethically wrong that Dr Ewing and his office staff did NOTHING to try to find a way to treat my significant other, fully aware that he has no other resources available for 60-90 days. IS that the type of Doctor you want to manage your health? Especially your Heart issues? Again asking if I could pay for the visit wasn't even offered .. I could easily have put on a credit card without blinking an eye. i highly recommend that you DO NOT choose Dr Ewing if you have an option.

When first having to come here it took them 3 weeks to call me back to schedule the inital appointment. Whatever no big deal. Next appointment gets scheduled and it's placed 3 months in advance. Received a call, email and a text on monday confirming my appointment for today. Show up and they claim they tried to call me to reschedule because suddenly now my Dr doesn't work Wednesdays. Yet there is no calls from this office on my call logs at all nor is there even a missed call on the day they claim to have called. Why was no voicemail left? They claim they weren't able to leave one that I don't have a voicemail set up. That's funny considering every other person or place is able to leave voicemails. They didn't make an effort to call initially and lied about it to my face and "if" they tried to call a week ago why not make another attempt if this is the issue? Then want me to waste my gas to come back some other time and use more time off work that I can't afford to miss extra for because I'm also 7 months pregnant and have Dr appointments for my baby constantly. They make no effort to really contact anyone and make up lies and excuses for their screw-ups. Funny I can get calls and a voicemail from the office confirming my appointment but they supposedly couldn't do anything to reschedule before I had to waste my time and gas.
