Vanderbilt Bedford Hospital

Left my mother out in the hallway for 4 hours in agonizing pain, told her to be quiet after or they would kick her out of the hospital. The nurse got an attitude with my mother and never came back to us. I guess that makes sense for a Shelbyville hospital. Take your loved ones anywhere else. A bar would be more accommodating than this staff and hospital.

I wouldn't give the hospital any stars I've been out there numerous times with my 3 year old since the day she was born. They've transferred me to nashville twice just for them to send me home and last night October 31st,2025 I was there with my daughter because she was vomiting nonstop and the doctor on call was Caleb Joseph Bailey he never came in the room never spoke to me about what was going on and they sent her home just for her to continue vomiting nonstop.

Came in with chest pains. Er decided to keep me due to family history. Not only did they not follow my med regimen, but thought they knew better them my own doc. Was diagnosed with a few problems with my heart, but got told there was nothing wrong with me by a nurse who said findings were due to age. Never saw cardiac team nothing. I didn't know Nurses were able to give diagnoses. Then there were the multiple times I would ring for something or to let them know my blood sugars were high. Nobody ever came. I wouldn't recommend this hospital for anyone. If you can go somewhere else.

I love our hospital! On several occasions I've witnessed their expertise and also great skill and compassion dealing with a difficult patient. I have recurring bloodwork done and I'm in and out so fast, the folks in the bloodwork lab are awesome! So glad we have this hospital and now the Vanderbilt connection.

Dr. Backstrom is one of the most compassionate and attentive doctors I've ever encountered. He took his time with me, never rushed, and made sure I felt heard, safe, and understood -- during an incredibly vulnerable and painful moment in my life. He approached my care with gentleness and genuine concern. He explained everything clearly, checked in with empathy, and made me feel like I mattered. It wasn't just medical care -- it was human care, and that makes all the difference when you're hurting in more ways than one. I'm deeply grateful for the way he treated me -- not just as a patient, but as a person.
