Dr. Johnston is a native of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, he received his medical education at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He served a Residency and Chief Residency at Vanderbilt University, where he was honored with the Vanderbilt House Staff Clinical Teaching Award. He subsequently was a Fellow in Cardiology at Emory University and remained at Emory as an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology). He also served as Medical Director for the Center for Heart Failure Therapy at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Johnston did a fabulous job! He is very caring and always takes time to listen to his patients. When scheduling tests or appointments, he takes into consideration the distance the patient has to travel. I live in Winchester, Tennessee. It is 2 hours away. Dr. Johnston and his staff go out of their way to be accommodating and accessible. Super Job as always!
He nice and thorough. Read the lab reports and felt my heart was good shape. Told the referring doctor my heart was good , but referring doctor wanted a stress test. Took stress test next day an all was good. Made me feel a lot better about my upcoming medical procedures.
I cannot say enough about Dr Johnston, his team and Centennial in general. I have spent a lot of the last 10 years dealing with loved ones and my own health issues and have never dealt with a better hospital or medical professionals. Excellent care!
