Dr. Bryan Helsel

Dr Helsel is an amazing surgeon!! He's a very nice man with empathy and he corrected a problem I was having that other surgeons didn't take me seriously. The doctor understood my situation and I am now pain free with no discomfort because of Dr Helsel. I am so appreciate of him and his staff. Thank you so much!!!!

Dr. Bryan Helsel is the best!!! He let's you know how it is with no guessing left. My 49 year old husband had to have an emergency bypass and Dr. Helsel was honest and didn't pull no punches and told my husband exactly what he needed and what my husband needed to do after the surgery in order to have a long and full life. I can't begin to thank him enough for what he did for our family. He is a GREAT surgeon, and we highly recommend him!!!

I recently stumbled across a short you tube video "The Golden Hour". I was surprised to see Dr. Bryan Helsel speaking to someone. Dr Helsel was risking his own life in Afghanistan to perform surgery on not only our injured soldiers but local citizens and even Taliban soldiers who suffered severe injuries. Dr. Helsel performed open heart surgery on my husband, Sam O'Dell on July 20 of this year. I had prayed and asked God to give Sam His best. God answered my prayer. I feel so honored to recommend Dr. Helsel to anyone in need of his skills.

We had a scheduled appointment with Dr. Helsel at 11am, and checked in at 10:40am. At 11:40, after sitting for an hour, I asked the receptionist if he was running behind or if there was a problem. She answered yes, he was behind. At 12pm, 3 men in scrubs came in and asked to see Dr. Helsel. So knowing we had been there at this time for almost an hour and a half, and there was another lady awaiting behind us, the receptionist allow these men to go back. These men/doctors do not know the doctor because they started looking at pointing at the doctors pictures mounted on the wall as to which he was. So at 12:20 and after an hour and 40 minutes wait in the lobby, I decided we had waited enough. We told the receptionist we were leaving at that point since it was almost 2 hours since we arrived. This is no way to run a medical office, or anyway to treat patients. No one apologized, or offered regrets while we sat there or even tried to update us as to what was going on . I would think twice before I scheduled with this doctor. We have seen cardiologists, oncologist, surgeons, etc., and none ever kept us waiting more than 20-30 minutes. Beyond disappointed, and I would give zero stars if I could! 6/13-23. I wanted to add an update. Dr. Helsel himself called on the day of this appointment around 6:15 pm and basically apologized and explained it was a very difficult/unusually busy day as he clinically etc which set him very behind. He suggested we rescheduled and he said he'd make sure we were seen. I felt better after this call. I will update more once we see him. We did set up a teleconference in 2 weeks. I will update once we see the doctor. I did update my stars because he personally called to explain what happened. Updated to 5 stars: Dr. Helsel video called and it was a great teleconference. He was very caring and explained what we needed to do as we go forward with this issue. We set up our next visit and CT in next 6 months to monitor as we go. Very pleased with this visit.
