Oscar E. A native of Venezuela, Dr. Mendez attended medical school at the University of Zulia in Marcaibo, Venezuela, before coming to the United States. Continuing his education, he completed his fellowship with the University of Pittsburgh's School of Medicine and a residency in neurology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania before relocating to Tennessee. Prior to his arrival in Middle Tennessee, Dr. Mendez served as the chief of staff at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tenn.

I haven't been with Dr. Mendez for a long time. But I've been his patient long enough to know he's a very good neurologist! I have a lot of different neuropathic problems from prior cancer treatments and other things. And he listens well which means a lot! And he's very knowledgeable and is willing to go the extra mile to figure what will be the best way to treat whatever it is your deal with. I feel lucky to have found him.
I Love Dr. Mendez. He listens and will discuss your issues. He is never in a hurry. He has always made me feel like he will always be there if I have any questions about medication or treatment.
If I could give a higher rating I would. I have been seeing Dr. Oscar Mendez for 7 years now. I truly mean this when I say he is by far the best neurologist I have ever seen. He is the only one I will go to and I will travel to see him if I ever move states. He makes me feel that he takes a personal interest in my case and genuinely listens to my concerns and does not rush my visit. I was talking with him one day and I explained my situation and he responded with "I am not treating a book, so let's figure this out for you and what works for you specifically" and that's exactly what we did and it meant the world to me that he took the time to listen and come up with a plan. It was great to not feel as though I was talking to a robot with robotic responses. I would recommend his practice to anyone. The staff is very caring and efficient. Dr. Mendez rates the best of any doctor I have ever had! He really cares about his patients and listens to see what their needs are, then responds to the needs he hears, completely. He welcomes questions and is very competent.
