Avoid this place! Go to McLeod Health Cardiology (also located in Sumter). The staff at Prisma Cardiology are down right rude with a "don't care" attitude. Dr. Thomason isn't any better. She has literally filed her nails while in an apt talking with my mother, whom was in heart failure and had a defibrillator put in her chest and relies on medication to keep her alive. Thomason will not refill your life saving medication unless you see her, which wouldn't be an issue except they schedule you WHENEVER THEY WANT, no matter how many times you tell them the availability you have. I've called numerous times to explain the availability for my mother to get to her appts and I either get hung up on, put on hold for nobody to come back, or told they will call me back, which they never do. Today she waited 50 minutes PAST her scheduled appt, asked how long she should have to wait after the appt time has passed (because not everyone has ALL day to sit at a check-up) and was ignored by the women working in the office. My mother signed paperwork to have records transferred and then decided to walk out and not wait any longer. As she's walking out to leave, someone from the office come running after her telling her she was not allowed to leave. Like come on... You make people wait, at this point, almost an hour without answering any questions they ask, then RUN out to tell them they aren't ALLOWED to leave?? If you want to be treated like dirt, by all means, this is the office for you. If you want to be treated like a respected human then avoid this place and go to McLeod Cardiology. Within FIVE MINUTES of them getting her records they called and had FULL COMMUNICATION and an appt made for this week during times that ARE convenient. The amount of disrespect from Prisma Cardiology from the past few years have been downright unacceptable, applauding, and flat out disgusting. We were told originally they were the only office in Sumter with the equipment to be able to do device checks for her defibrillator which we recently just found out is a COMPLETE LIE, which is why she transferred to McLeod's. Save yourself the stress and lack of care and just don't come here. THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS IN TOWN!

Talk about giving someone the run around!!!! Scheduled an appointment; took at least 2 months to get on the schedule. I know for a fact they don't schedule you unless they have a referral in the system. Then the day before my appointment I get a call at 4:45pm that they don't have the referral on file and can I call my doctor to get a new one. Wth. If this was the case why not call when doctors office are actually open???? Or when I made the appointment????
Called three times because I kept getting 'disconnected'.
Finally decided this place wasn't work the head ache and moved onto McLeod. As with all things Tuomey... terrible service!!!

Attempted to do tele appointments due to mobility issues. Dr. Gilliam was unfriendly and unhelpful in this format. Had an EKG done by home nursing and sent to him in advance. At the time of the teleconference he knew nothing about it and made no effort to check for it. Said he wanted an in person meeting only. The hospital cynically has discontinued valet parking and his solution was pay for an expensive ambulance transport.

I was thrilled to find Dr. John Rozich back in Sumter. He had been my cardiologist when he was in Manning. Dr. Rozich is a kind and gentle physician with no discernible ego that can be intimidating and make an already scary visit completely comfortable. Most importantly, he explains EVERY decision or recommendation he makes and how studies, reports and "the literature" backs up what he says. He has never seemed to "over doctor" by ordering unnecessary tests or procedures. If you need a good cardiologist, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Rozich!!!
