Patient
Would not recommend unless you are an older male. The few reviews I read mentioned good bed side manner. However, this was not my experience. We went over my medical history to include my sleep apnea and in the middle of explaining this, he called me a "nervous nelly". So I thought that was odd but proceeded with the appointment. He then criticized my previous endocrinologist for putting me on Synthroid, even though Dr Duncan has never even seen my thyroid blood tests. As we were walking out of the room he asked what my job and degree were. When I told him my degree, he said it was worthless and laughed as if that was funny. Then as I'm checking out the nurse tells me they are fairly booked for the next month and asked me my preference for an appointment. Dr Duncan jokes in from of the entire office staff and another patient that my job is not a real job (I work from home), so I should be available whenever they need me to come in. I've experienced condescending doctors especially because I'm 34 and female but this was just demeaning. It was like he got off on making me feel smaller than him with his jokes. It caught me off guard too. I wish I would've reacted quicker and stood up for myself. Didn't expect this lack of professionalism from a doctor in his seventies (maybe eighties). I think older men might be comfortable speaking to him but if you are younger and female, I don't recommend it. His nurse Carrol is the sweetest lady. It's a shame she isn't the cardiologist.
