Patient
I had been a patient of Dr. Wright's for about 11 years. 3 years ago I had to go back to West Virginia to settle some estate issues. I had made Dr Wright personally aware of this and told him I probably would have to obtain a doctor up there in the interim. He was very understanding and told me when I returned to Myrtle Beach I would be welcomed back to the practice. Recently, I attempted to make an appointment but I was having phone issues and needless to say I ended up going in the next day in person and making the appointments for myself and my husband. I was very pleased about this because I'd always found Dr Wright to be very caring and understanding. However, a week before my appointments his office Personnel called me and told me my appointments were canceled. So I asked when they would be rescheduled and I was informed they would not be rescheduled. I asked if I was being fired as a patient and if so why? The woman became very aggressive with me when I asked this and snarkily asked me if she said that. I told her I did not understand and asked if the doctor was aware that they were canceling my appointments. She refused to answer me. I asked her what I was supposed to do and she said call my insurance and find a new doctor. When I attempted to explain to her that Dr Wright knew I was going to be away for a couple years and would become inactive she cut me off cold and began screaming at me that I was stressing her out. From there on out she would not let me say a word and began repeatedly telling me she was hanging up on me. Which she eventually did. I reached out in writing to Dr Wright asking him to explain it to me I never got a response. Frankly I was left feeling abused and neglected that I was viewed as human being that was NOT worthy to be informed of reason I was not allowed to become a patient again explaind to me. I am 61 years old and I have never in my life been treated so shabbily by a doctor's office. I agree that Dr Wright is knowledgeable and caring as a general rule. The fact that he allows his office staff to abuse his patients is outrageous and I highly recommend you look elsewhere for a practitioner. Additionally, if you look at other reviews you will see another patient who says that Dr Wright fired his parents as patients. And someone looking to work at the office for education was never responded to. It is my hope that Dr Wright realizes what is happening to his patients. However, I myself will not return even though I have no ill will towards Dr. Wright. I would simply be very afraid of being abused in the future by the office staff.
