We had a disappointing experience at this pediatric office with Rebecca Eglen. Our main concern was that our request to stagger vaccines, due to a prior reaction, was not taken seriously. Instead of discussing options with us, we felt our concerns were dismissed. The communication style came across as condescending, and we didn't feel supported as parents. Additionally, appointments often ran 40-50 minutes late even when the waiting room was empty, and the office is not open on Fridays, which made scheduling difficult. When we expressed disagreement with their approach, we later received a 30-day dismissal letter instead of constructive follow-up. We ultimately chose another pediatric provider who was more open to shared decision-making and collaborative care.

I would never recommend cmc pediatrics which is such a shame because the front desk lady and nurses are so kind. Dr Eglen has been absolutely horrific, she has been extremely condescending and rude. We are first time parents and she said our baby was not gaining weight the way he should be so we were willing to do what it took to make sure he was healthy, we had an ultrasound, xray, and blood work done on our at the time 1 month old baby just for a specialist at MUSC to tell us our baby is fine and he does not understand why Dr Eglen was concerned. When brought up she insisted my baby was very very sick and the specialist agreed with her she had just gotten off the phone with him and my baby is terribly sick and he could die. What a horrible thing to keep saying to a first time mother instead of explaining why you feel that way or what could be wrong. The final straw was his 4 month check up I requested that we wait on the shots because I wanted to do some more research myself, never did I say I was not going to give him any shots. She stated that she could not see him if I did not give him shots which I told her I understand, the rest of the appointment she proceeded to tell me about all of the deaths happening in Texas how my child would suffer severe neurological damage and how if he got any of these diseases he would die a horrible and painful death. Who in their right mind tells someone that?? She should never be allowed to work with children what a horrid woman. She proceeded to check him out while talking about my child dying never told me if he looked good if everything was okay I didn't have a chance to ask any questions she got up and said you can leave and walked right out the door that was the end of that. She needs to lose her job, why would you not explain why it's important or ask about concerns instead of talking about death. The sweet lady at the front desk then informed me I have a month to get his shots, why couldn't Dr Eglen just say that instead of making me leave in tears thinking horrible thoughts. I will NEVER bring my child back to this heartless woman.

Jack Cole Now* Kings Grant I cannot recommend CMC, Health Plaza South, on 707 anymore. Had an earache and other medical issues and called them 3 times on their answering machine over the course of a week, and they never called me back. I had been with CMC for over a year as a patient and something has gone wrong with them caring about you or worrying how sick you are. Went down there to talk to the manager, after a week of getting no response on the phone. She said that phone calls for sick patients go to 9 different people that work there answering calls. I told her no one answered my call. She had no idea why I was not called back. I told her something was wrong with her system and that I should have been called after a week of trying to get help from them. Instead, after a week, I called Family Medicine of Saybrook SC and got a doctor there to see me in 2 days. Very unhappy with CMC and will probably not go back there again. No one there now seems to care about you, calls go directly to machines. No personal contact with anyone there unless you go there in person. This is a warning to anyone who wants to go to CMC for medical problems, they have changed for the worse. I wonder if anyone else has had trouble with CMC recently.

I have been going to Shannon Spence for several years and have even followed her from one practice to another. She is one of the best medical professionals I have ever had. She really listens to her patients and does everything within her power to help you. When you have an issue unlike other doctors/nurses, she listens, takes you serious, and puts you in the right direction. I recommend her to everyone I come across, and now my whole family goes to her. She is truly the best and great at what she does.

The receptionist are really nice, the facility is nice and clean. You can have a lot of things done in this one building which is great. I see Shannon Spence and I really like her. She is very thorough. My children see Ina Troutman, she's also wonderful. I would highly recommend both doctors and the facility.
