My husband has been with Dr. Odle for over a year. He first consulted because he had almost passed out while driving. He was 66 years old. He did have Carotid stenosis performed prior in another state. That was discovered because of floaters in his eye. Otherwise, he never had a heart condition before, so this was new territory for us. He was sent for all the tests a new heart patient typically has. He also had an external heart monitor installed. We are thinking we would get feedback to let us know the results. NOPE, in fact I was reprimanded by his nurse for even asking. The testing is not done until we have more data from the heart monitor. Next appointment is another 4 weeks away. We will know then. So still concerned we tried to read the tests ourselves. Impossible. Next appointment he is told he has A fib. No too bad. NEVER explained anything to us about how the heart worked and what A fib did to the heart. Never explained where he was in the spectrum. Then a monitor was implanted, said to be a better monitor. Follow up appointments included blood thinners for 30-day trial (he had bad side effects) and ultimately, we could not afford it and maybe he didn't need it. How about a BETA blocker? Did he discuss possible side effects - NO. He would mention other possible courses of action like he was using buzz words - but did zero education about what they were and what he would recommend. He treated us like we were heart experts and should just know what he was talking about. His notes seem thorough, but the notes and our conversations do not match. His BPM was 146 when he was about to have a colonoscopy and they would not do the procedure - wanted his to go immediately to our heart doctor. Oh, but it is Friday morning, and they had NOTHING for him and oh by the way he had an appointment with a PA in 11 days. This PA appointment we learned about A Fib, understood where he was on the spectrum. Guess what he is considered a stable heart patient. The monitor was set at 165 before it would alert him. We also learned that there is always a heart doctor on call all day Friday! Now we are leaving CMC Cardiology completely since he is Chief of Cardiology at Conway Medical Center.
