Dr. Jeffrey Winterfield is an associate professor of cardiac electrophysiology at the Medical University of South Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College in Massachusetts and his medical degree with honors from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. After completing his internal medicine residency, he was selected for a highly competitive fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, part of Harvard Medical School, in Boston. Dr. Winterfield did my 83 year old father's ventricular ablation. Not sure how things will go from here, but we're very satisfied with the time he and his team took, their expertise in this area, and that dad got the best care possible. If I could give Dr. Winterfield and the great folks at the Ashley River Tower cardiac center 10 stars, I would. Everyone was extremely nice, and efficient, and were true to their word about everything. Gracious, kind, and helpful! I cannot say enough good things about all of them.
He told me that almost everyone has my symptoms, that I just need to live with it. His EXACT words were, "I don't label things that I can't fix." I had recently been told by another doctor that I had Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome - that doctor did some tests and everything, and all my symptoms were the same. I was referred to a cardiologist, Dr. Winterfield, as they said a cardiologist are usually the ones to handle/treat/try to figure out what causes POTS. He didn't do anything, acted like he knew everything, and acted like all my other doctors were wrong. After leaving the appointment extremely upset and frustrated, I went to another doctor. Turns out I do in fact have some major problems going on with my pituitary gland, and have to be on meds for the rest of my life for. Which is most likely the cause of my POTS and in fact my POTS symptoms have decreased some since I have been correctly diagnosed by my endocrinologist. I understand that's not part of his field but to totally disregard everything I said, and what my other doctors had said, and not even try to help was extremely unprofessional and just flat out rude and disrespectful.
Wife walked in short of breath Dr Winterfield did a PVC Ablation EKG was all over the place. 3 hours later EKG was normal life is back to normal.
He arranged for me to have an ablation at MUSC.
