I recently had mitral valve repair on August 28, 2025. I have had other kinds of surgeries in past years but none had me nearly more anxious like this one when I found out that your heart had to be stopped to be worked on and you'd be placed on a bypass machine. However, I did my own extensive research for a doctor who specialized in minimally invasive repair. I had came across a few but it was Dr. Mumtaz at UPMC that stood out for me. Later on after I did research, my other but fairly new cardiologist team at Penn State also referred Dr. Mumtaz and it was then I knew he was the one for the job. This man has truly been blessed by God with a skill. It wasn't only his credentials that spoke but all the professionals, even ones who never worked directly with him said "Oh, Dr. Mumtaz, yeah I've heard nothing but greatness about him". I thank God for him, the ANESTHESIOLOGIST and all the UPMC medical team that assisted him in surgery, with me in ICU and on Main 6 that helped me through my recovery. Shout out to Josiah Ward, one of my aides, he was such a nice young man. I'm still in my recovery process and so far no complications. Thank God and UPMC
