St. Charles Bend

Never experienced such an amazing place like St. Charles. Bend, OR Even compared to the hospitals I've worked for. The staff here is just wonderful and outstanding. From the person who greeted me at the front to the last nurse and cna I came in contact with was just incredible. Their genuine care and concern alone made you feel all better already. My attending doc was absolutely awesome as well. I almost didn't want to leave when I heard I was getting discharged. This type of treatment should be the model and standard for all medical facilities across the nation, people will heal faster and most certainly feel better. It's difficult to summarize the amazing experience with a few sentences, but if you end up coming here you'll immediately feel it and say wow.

I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for Shawna Fast, RN in the oncology department. She went above and beyond to help me schedule my appointments for biopsy, brain MRI and PET scan. Shawna turned an extremely stressful process into a very smooth and reassuring experience. Her kindness, professionalism, genuine care truly stood out. She took time to answer my questions, explain everything clearly regarding all of my upcoming appointments. Thank you Shawna Fast for your compassion and dedication. You are a wonderful example of what excellent patient care feels like.

Wow. Just had outpatient knee revision surgery at hospital yesterday. Was a 5 star experience! The staff in pre op , anesthesia ,surgery recovery and day stay were great. Friendly professional attentive staff. Even food from cafeteria was very good and came quickly to day stay . Great experience and shout out to those nurses who were so kind and attentive. Especially Arielle in post op. Hard job to deal with so many personalities of patients but everyone remained cool and calm. Great job!

I've never met anyone in healthcare like Nick Mauti. He is, without question, the best medical professional I have ever dealt with. Nick goes above and beyond every single day--he's compassionate, calm, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about the people he works with. He takes the time to explain everything in a way that makes you feel supported rather than overwhelmed. He remembers the little things, treats every patient with respect, and brings a level of humanity to dialysis that is rare and deeply appreciated. Nick doesn't just do his job--he makes a difference. Anyone who has the privilege of being cared for by him is in the best hands possible. Highly, highly recommend.

10/7/25 - 10/11/25: After falling from a ladder, I was able to stand & walk, but my entire body was in pain and breathing was increasingly difficult. My wife drove me to St Charles Urgent Care Bend South where they quickly checked me out. They then sent me to St Charles Bend ER where they'd already put me on the ER's sign-in list. Urgent care had been very professional and personable; I felt very well treated. While the ER lobby was quite crowded, the sign-in line was short. We noticed a woman behind us whose need seemed more urgent than mine, so we let her go before us. My sign-in & wait for triage was no more than 30 minutes - certainly benefiting from the info provided by Urgent Care. Within the next 45 minutes, I'd received basic care and had a CT scan of my upper body revealing I'd broke my sternum & a rib which punctured & collapsed my left lung. I was then medicated for my injuries and kept comfortable by attentive staff while awaiting a hospital room. My care by the triage & trauma teams was top shelf in every respect. I then spent 4 days on the 3rd floor of St Charles Bend Hospital. I am eternally grateful for the exceedingly competent, responsive and compassionate care that I was availed throughout my stay! Huge thanks to the Trauma Team, the 3rd floor care team, and all those who support their efforts. I could list by name 14 of these devoted, skilled and courageous professionals, but I fear I'd forget a few others. So, to St Charles' Mgmt: I've noted and am impressed by your increased attention and responses to these reviews. Using my date-range of care (above), please recognize your staff for their performance .... And pass along my gratitude. - Ken
