The most confusing and confounding people to deal with. Phone call answered or returned? None. Proper directions on which building to go to? None. Instructions on what sort of things to expect or bring with me? None. I got there with my comfort items and was told I would bring bedbugs into the facility, and that I shouldn't have brought it. If they only they answered the phone and addressed my questions before the study. I had to google and research and ask friends questions to figure all this stuff out on my own. And after the sleep study I called for 2 months trying to get my results with no returned calls. I paid a grand to have a sleep study done, and me and my primary care doctor can't get a call back to find out the results. How is this place still operational? I accidentally left an item there after the study. I needed to get it back and couldn't get any call backs. I had to just show up in the night and hope someone would answered the door to help me. I live in another city so driving all the way into Tulsa with no idea if someone would actually open the door to help me was a huge distressing deal. If they would return calls all this trouble could be avoided.

My husband has been admitted to Oklahoma Heart Institute four different times, and I want to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Therakan and several incredible nurses who have cared for him throughout this journey. Dr. Therakan is a skilled and compassionate surgeon, and I truly believe he gave my husband a fighting chance after his open heart surgery. Some of the nurses here went above and beyond--especially in the days following surgery. A few of them had my husband as their only patient for an entire 8-hour shift, and the one-on-one care they gave him was nothing short of life-saving. They were gentle, attentive, and truly did their best to keep him alive and comfortable, even when the odds were stacked against him. Their dedication meant the world to both of us. While I'm incredibly thankful for those who poured their heart into his care, I'm giving 4 stars because I do believe the infection that is now threatening his life originated during one of his hospital stays. That said, this hospital has some phenomenal people, and we wouldn't have made it this far without them. Thank you for giving us more time and more hope. -- Brandy Bria

Nurses and a couple doctors were great, tech that sat outside my husband's room door was rude and not friendly at all.. the doctor who was supposed to come to my husband's room and speak to us about results called his cell phone instead of coming to the room which I thought was ridiculous she was making her rounds to rooms around my husband's but didn't come to my husband's room. the guy in the cafeteria serving food wasn't friendly he acted as if he hated his job.. the house keeper girls were very friendly and polite.. parking the first day wasn't bad but the second day was a nightmare! overall stay wasn't to bad that's why I gave 3 stars you can't let a few negative people ruin a entire review

Cardiac surgical post-op care (staff/nurses & Dr. Gaffney) while in OHI was outstanding! A cardiologist (I had 3-4 different cardiologists in 24 hours) put me, w/o my knowledge or consent, on atorvastatin even though it was in my charts/records that I AM ALLERGIC TO STATINS. I had adverse reactions & that is when I discovered that you are on your own after release. Care or follow-up after release is non-existent. No way to communicate by phone or "mychart" because nobody will take charge or be responsible. Or possibly it might be that when other cardiologists saw the INCOMPETENT &/or DIDN'T CHECK MY RECORDS MEDICATION MISTAKE, they did not want to be involved. Except for Dr. Gaffney, it is merry-go-round of capitalistic cardiologists who don't give a shit about your health & JUST WANT YOUR MONEY. A cardiac surgeon at St. Francis, Dr. John M. Webber, took charge & immediately got me off the statins & got approval for injectable cholesterol/cardiac medicine. Kudos to St Francis & a cardiac surgeon who cares, takes charge, & PERSONALLY follows through - even though it was Christmas.

Dr. Joseph Gard and his team have been amazing! I've had 2 accidents happen to me in the last 2 years. They both are from exercising and something clearly happens to my heart when I do high intensity cardio. Back in August 2024, I had a bad exercise accident. I fell off the cycling bike in a cycling class, hit my head and did experience seizures. I was rushed to the ER and got admitted and was placed in an induced coma. I was at Hillcrest main. I do not remember my time during my hospital stay but all my notes on mychart are focusing mainly on my brain and "seizures." After visiting different doctors with follow up appointments and having unnecessary anti seizure medication forced on to me, NO BODY was listening to me. I do NOT have a brain/seizure disorder. I have not had a seizure since the day of my accident back on 8/15/2024. Those anti-seizure meds caused a horrible allergic reaction on me and I broke out into hives/rashes all over. My primary dr told me to get off them and I did, and shockingly I have not had a "seizure" being off those meds. My first visit with Dr. Gard, he actually did NOT interrupt me and he actually listened to me. When I told him about my accidents, he immediately addressed my heart. He did not focus on the "seizure" issue and clearly he knew that my condition is a heart condition. I've been screaming this to the medical team who have treated me and they blow me off and dismiss my heart condition and focus on the brain/seizure issue. It's been a long frustrating 6 months. Dr. Gard is the FIRST doctor that realized something is wrong with my heart. He was shocked that no other doctors ordered a stress test or treadmill test on me after my accident. Dr. Gard made an action plan for me, ordered a stress and treadmill test on me, evaluated my results, and is still continuing to find the right treatment for me. Dr. Gard and his team have been truly wonderful. The world needs more caring doctors and nurses like Dr. Gard and his team. Thank YOU Dr. Gard!
