This doctor performed a heart catheterization on me this afternoon. The procedure went well, however, there was an alarming and apparently uncommon post-surgery effect on the wrist, hand and fingers of the arm which was used for the procedure. I could not turn my forearm into a palm-up position, and my fingers were completely numb, extremely cold, and turning purple. Obviously the catheter insertion site was very painful, which is to be expected. The recovery team worked diligently to bring circulation and movement back to my fingers, which only caused more pain in the wrist and forearm. The doctor eventually appeared to see how I was doing after the surgery. When the recovery team and I explained what was happening with my lifeless hand and throbbing wrist and forearm, the doctor told his staff to remove the compression dressing. I then asked the doctor if this was a normal reaction post surgery. He forcefully grabbed my forearm and SQUEEZED it while angrily glaring at me and tersely snapped that it needed to be unwrapped from the compression bandage. He dropped my arm and stormed out of the room. He never returned to check on me again. I will obviously not be returning to him or his practice for follow-up care or future cardiac appointments, and this incident will be reported to hospital management.

My appointment was at 8:20 a.m. I was there by 8:20 apparently I was suppose to be there 20 minutes early even though I was not told that. On MyChart I registered for my appointment and took 2 surveys days prior to my appointment. It did say in MyChart that if I was unable to do those to come in 15 minutes early. This doctor did not want to see me when I came in. I apologized to everyone and told them I would have come in earlier had I known. When this doctor came in my room he was very rude to me because I came in at my appointment time. He literally had me in tears. There was absolutely no reason to talk to me the way he did. I will never be back to see him again. There are plenty of cardiologist in this area that don't treat their patients so poorly. Mercy Health do better. I would not want this doctor practicing under my name.

Dr. Aoun treated my mother while she was in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown a couple weeks ago when she had a heart attack. She has an extensive cardiac history including multiple heart attacks/stents/procedures. This man is worthless. He was constantly unavailable, ignoring the nurses when they would ask questions for my mother or about her care, didn't even come talk to me after my mothers catheterization as they said he was already on another case. Then he messed up her medications, lowering her blood pressure at one point to 77/44 which ended up in her having to stay another day at the hospital, but they made zero changes and just told her to take meds further apart. When being discharged they gave her no information regarding when she could return to work, or an excuse, not even an appointment with him which he is the cardiologist they referred her too, just told her to call to get the appointment. My mother called for 5 days trying to get someone from his outpatient office to schedule her an appointment, I finally had to call and ask them to call my mother back to schedule and the nurse up front was horribly rude to my mom, told her he doesn't do FMLA paperwork even though he was the treating physician, and that she didn't need to see him to be cleared for work right AFTER SHE HAD A HEART ATTACK?? When she went in for her appointment he wouldn't even let her finish a single sentence, refused to hear anything she had to say, said she had mental problems and that he couldn't fix her. What kind of doctor is that?? One of the workers in his office was telling her to go to Cleveland so obviously even THEY know what garbage this man is. This Dr is a lawsuit waiting to happen, if you want you or your family member to receive quality care go see someone at UH or the clinic.
