Michael Hughes, MD

Dr. Hughes is an amazing cardiologist. He saved my mom's life by quick intervention as she had 99% blockage in her widow maker. She lived another 7 years following his direction. He will forever have our gratitude and upmost respect to allow these extra years with her.

This doctor was patronizing and dismissive. He said he was on call and had to take several phone calls. He said he "had to run" and was very busy. He started out by telling me there was nothing really wrong with me, and that if I lost 50 pounds I would be fine. He didn't bother to find out that more than 20 of the pounds have come on in the past year because I've been so ill. He did not ask my history or my symptoms, but just told me it couldn't be my heart. When I said it came on abruptly and no one has been able to figure it out, I told him I had been researching trying to get some insight. When I suggested a couple of things, he told me he didn't treat the one thing, and I couldn't possibly have the other as it is way over-diagnosed. Again, he did not ask my history or symptoms. He said he was going to order a heart monitor for two weeks to prove the absence of any problem, not looking for anything except negative reinforcement. I have had other patronizing doctors before with poor bedside manners, but they did their job. I don't need "nice," but I expect respect and some degree of concern. This is the worst doctor I have ever had to suffer through.

Very pleased with my first visit with Dr Hughes. He's very down to earth personable, and to the point.
