Just want to share my story, I doubt Dr. Coletta will remember me though. I was 23yrs old and developed severe depression and anxiety, for over a year I was a frequent flyer at the ER convinced it was my heart. Thanks to a nurse at St. John's in Westlake advocating for me, I was admitted. Dr. Coletta didn't say what every other doctor said, "It's just anxiety", "You're to young", "Nothings wrong with you stop seeking drugs", "You have better chances of winning the lottery then having heart problems". I heard these things for over a year, Dr. Coletta took it serious and ran tests, stress test, ekg, mri, Echocardiogram. We found out I had Bicuspid Aprtic Valve Disease and an Aortic Anuerysm. I haven't seen him since I moved but knowing these things I found a new cardiologist and at 33 years old I was given 6 weeks because my valve began failing and I became dangerously ill. I have a lot of respect for Dr Coletta and am forever grateful that he took me serious. I am now 36 and still wish him all the best!

One star is far too many. My 84 year old husband was convinced by John Coletta that he should try statins even though there was no major blockages. We were concerned about side effects but he assured us that statins were getting bad press. Three months after the statins, my husband was bleeding from the mouth. His platelets crashed from 246,000 to 2,000. I research this statin and found several victims experiencing the exact same thing. He had to have 2 transfusions followed by heavy doses of steroids to stabilize the platelets. Two weeks after that he started having the serious side effects of the steroids we were told about. He had a head to toe body rash resembling a burn victim. He is still dealing with the severely dehydrated skin and shedding of skin 4 months later. His immune system was so weak he contracted pneumonia, more dehydration from the antibiotics causing him not to be able to swallow solid foods. He lost 26 lbs in 2 weeks and more damage to the skin due to the protein and fat lost during the weight loss. The inside of his upper and lower eyelids are shedding skin causing eyelid drooping and the inability to close his eyes completely when sleeping. With all my husband has gone through and is still going through 7 months later, even though I contacted Coletta's office 4 times, not once has he called to see how my husband is doing ...he just slithered away. I regret ever meeting or trusting this man with my loved one and I would never recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Coletta is a very caring doctor. He takes time to explain all your options. And will take the time to listen to your concerns. Best Cardiologist
