Patient
Dr. Patel is an amazingly thorough cardiologist. My pulmonologist referred me to him to find out if my pulmonary sarcoidosis (which has been dormant for many years) could be in my heart. Dr. Patel ordered an EKG, then a stress test, an echocardiogram, and finally an MRI, which, thankfully, did not show any sarcoid. I passed all these tests. However, my cholesterol has been elevated for years, but my good cholesterol was very high. None of my doctors suggested I take a statin. Dr. Patel wanted me to, but I told him I wanted to try a better diet. A few days later he messaged me and asked if I would be willing to have an angiogram, as a final test. I agreed, and it showed stenosis of a coronary artery (25-49% blocked), as well as plaque in my vessels, even though a calcium scan showed 0 a couple years ago. I am so thankful he insisted on this other test. I am now on a statin which has really helped with my cholesterol. I'm sorry this review is long, but Dr. Patel is such a great doctor. He is aggressive in his testing and treatments to improve and save lives. He is very personable, spends as much time with is patients as needed, and truly cares. He messages on MyChart and calls to discuss his recommendations, treatment and answers any questions one might have.
