Timothy Phelan, MD

My first visit with Dr.Phelan was fantastic. I didn't feel like a number. He took his time and explained everything! He explained why he thought i should have a repeat cardiac ablation vs continuing medications. He recognized i was very nervous since my previous ablation did not go so well with another provider, and he tool all of that in to consideration! After a long visit with him i decided on a repeat ablation. I had my ablation on 8/8/25 and i can not express my gratitude to Dr. Phelan and his team. I have already referred a handful of people to him and will continue to praise him. He has literally given me hope! Thank you again Dr. Phelan - you are my hero!!

If I could, I'd give a 0 rating. My 88 year old mother was a patient of his at St. Anne Hospital in Toledo, February 2025. Dr. Phelan performed a TEE-Transesophageal Echocardiagraphy with Cardioversion. Cardioversion was successful, her heart back in sinus rhythm. Beknownst to Dr. Phelan, during the TEE, her esophagus was perforated, which was not detected until 5-8 hours later when she was in medical distress. Eventually she was not treated, due to that fact St. Anne is not a full service hospital, does not have facilities and personnel for heart procedure complications (Found out later it's considered a "bandaid" hospital.) She was denied a medical transfer to other hospitals. She was put on comfort care. My mother died within 24 hours of the procedure that Dr. Phelan performed. My mother's death was unexpected, unnecessary and unnatural. As listed on death certificate, cause of death was pneumomediastium due to consequences of TEE. So sad. Note: I am not a disgruntled son. I requested and read over 250 pages of my mother's medical records. It's just the facts.

Dr. Phelan was kind and courteous, He addressed all my concerns and explained, in detail, the procedure he was recommending (and why)! He spent quite a bit of time with me. I never felt like I was being rushed. He makes sure you are totally comfortable with all phases of the appointment.

Dr Phelan was very nice, and gave me a lot of information! He answered all my questions clearly, and before I left he asked me if I was happy with everything we had discussed or if there was anything else he could do. Definitely recommend.
