I contacted The Brain and Spine Center on 11/21/25. After being asked a few questions by the receptionist, I was told the physicians would look over my information and would call me back to schedule an appointment. Well today is 12/7/25 and I have yet to hear anything back from them. I have contacted a different spine center who has already scheduled an appointment with me. Kettering Brain and Spine Center is a disgrace and should be ashamed of themselves. After reading other reviews, it seems I'm not the only one who has experienced this. People are hurting and are looking for answers and help from you and you treat people this way? Shame on you Kettering Brain and Spine Center.

Simply the worst heath care I've experienced in all my life by far. I've been here twice for neck issues. The first time was with an Orthopedic Surgeon who doesn't do surgery (if that makes any sense) and now works elsewhere. My previous retiring surgeon who had been recommending disc replacement. Off of the same MRI this "surgeon" recommended a neck stimulator (probably because Kettering Hospital internally was pushing that as easy money), but the conflicting diagnosis shook me and they never mentioned any kind of trail for the stimulator. My pain only worsened so I decided to give the Brain & Spine Center another try as an existing patient 9 months later and also with an 8 day old MRI. Dr. Mathew Garret decided that using the now 18 month old MRI was good enough and that there were no treatment options. When I pointed out that two previous doctors had different opinions I requested he at least get me into their pain management quickly which he said he would do and of course this is Kettering Hospital so I'm still waiting on that referral to come through. I had called ahead the previous day because I was having really bad back problems over the previous few weeks and desperately needed that to be evaluated and amazingly got through to the office the day before and they said the Garret would be able to do that. Once I questioned his diagnosis which was completely the opposite of his previous associate and my retired surgeon, the appointment was pver and my pressing back issue was ignored. I'd have to be dumb to go back to the Brain & Spine Center again and I'm now very leary of the entire Kettering Health System. I've found every visit with them very stressful which is not something you want when in pain.

My experience with Kettering Brain and Spine (And the entire Kettering health network as a whole) Was overall pretty terrible. I hurt my neck and was in severe pain, also I had really serious weakness and numbness in my left arm. I was referred to have an MRI by the emergency room but Kettering Brain and Spine Inappropriately delayed this treatment. It Seemed instead of patient Care, my provider was more concerned with what my insurance company wanted. Every time I tried to contact them for help, I was forced to leave a voicemail, This was especially frustrating over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. I called July 3 With tears in my eyes because I was in so much pain and had to leave a voicemail. They all left early for the holiday weekend I'm sure and I didn't hear back until Monday the 7th. In the end, the spinal epidural I finally got after months was the only thing that helped me at all (thank God for you Dr Verrill) I'm sharing this in the hopes that it helps somebody. You MUST be your own advocate. The Kettering health network is a giant, massive juggernaut, you are a speck of sand to them. It took me about three months, just to get that shot and between the ER visits, chiropractor visits And everything else It really hurt me financially, And I have county insurance! Good luck to you all and stay healthy

Honestly 1 star is being gracious. First problem I had is everyone you call in there is a 20 minute hold and no voicemail option so even just speaking with someone is hard, second my appointment that took me forever to schedule was cancelled night prior due to their system being down, last but not least the appointment itself was unbelievable. I have NEVER felt so dismissed in my life. Doctor couldn't even pull my scans to look at them but assumed my chronic pain is from "shrinking" because I have degenerative and bulging disks. Went as far as stating most people remain asymptomatic... literally sitting in front of her in tears but apparently she thinks im asymptomatic. I've had back pain for several years and it's worsened over time to the point I can't get relief from it and I'm losing sleep, however it's a "normal part of aging" I'm 32 years old. This amount of back pain is not normal. If I had read the reviews prior I would've never wasted my time. No doctor has ever made me feel like I was lying like these "specialists" have. 0/10 do not recommend.

As a retired nurse with 50 years experience I wad horrified by my appointment with L HALL CNP. Was rude and dismissive even refusing my extended hand upon greeting. I have been a kettering brain and spine patient for over 20 years with the wonderful but now retired Dr R Polestra. Ms Hall was caustic and condescending and made it clear I was wasting her time. She did refer me to PREMIER HEALTH for physical therapy and ordered a CT Scan of my spine which showed severe spinal narrowing. I have left 3 messages for .her which she has failed to acknowledge and with my chart down I did not know results and it has been 4 weeks since scan. This is uncaring and unprofessional medical practice but guess she is just too busy. The exam she offered took less than 90 seconds and she dismissed me in tears so this blatant lack of uncaring medical care is not unexpected
