Cincinnati Children's Heart Institute

This is one of the top heart facilities in the nation. My son has had two open heart surgeries by Dr. Morales along with other procedures and has been followed since birth by Dr. Spar and we have had nothing short of a phenomenal experience from this clinic and hospital. We travel from two states away to receive this care for a reason. I truly credit them to the quality of life my son currently has despite his complex anatomy.

Billing is terribly incompetent. Our newborn son was referred here. He was seen 5 times in his first year of life. (It should have been 6, but we cancelled the 6th one due to the billing nightmare.) All appointments were identical (minus an occasional EKG as well, which was billed separately and properly). The first 3 appointments were billed in such a way that insurance covered them. Starting with the 4th appointment, they changed how they billed insurance for the exact same services, and insurance denied the claim entirely, leaving us with around a $3000 bill. I have been talking with billing people since February trying to get this resolved and it is still unresolved as the hospital is unwilling to budge. The care he received was good, but I have wasted enormous amounts of my time trying in vain to get this resolved. This is my first negative review ever, but I'm trying to find a new cardiologist who knows how to bill insurance for routine and recurring cardiologist visits and I was dismayed by the relatively few reviews posted for the different cardiologists in the area, so I thought I'd do my part in warning people of the incompetence of this place.

I am on the phone trying to schedule an appointment for my daughter to see a cardiologist as referred by Childrens because she has passed out a few times within a couple of days.. They said there next available appointment is a month away! Thats wild...

These amazing people saved my life more than I can account for! I am 29 and have seen Dr.Russel Hirsch for the past 22 years. I will continue to see him until one of us dies and I've had some very close calls. Also for Betsy, starting camp joyful hearts got our minds off this scary rid .

Worst experience I've had at a heart dr. They gave me midodrine that had horrible side effects. I was having vision issues and looked as if someone punched me in the face. I tried to reach out for help. I was met with. "No one has ever had a reaction oh well" I said can you help me I'm having vision issues now and my eyes look horrible. They said no and tried to get me to say I took another medication. Treated me like a drug addicted I tried to go to another cardiologist for help but whatever they put on my cart made it to where he refused to see me. I have eye problems now with no one to help me with this. They refused to give me a refurral to an eye dr and I called the places they gave as a list for pots drs and they said they never received a referral reached out to them again and they refused to talk. I was just met with midodrine can't cause eye problems and the Dr refused to talk to me. My family also has a history of cardiomyopathy and I tried to ask for a refurral to get tested and they refused and Said go to a pc. Owhat ever they put in my chart made it to where the other dr I went to told me he will not help me I'm frustrated and upset because all I want is help and to be treated with respect not talked down and them trying to get me to say I took a different medication to make it look like I was a drug addict.
