I had a very good visit with Dr. Swinger. He gave me a preview for the results of my CT scan and the tie between my loss of breath and my cardiac problems. I felt like I was included in the decision making, and felt great about my visit.

Both my maternal grandparents died in their 50s of heart disease. I remember, from a young age, reflecting on how unfair that was and wanting to do something to change it. In college, I discovered an interest in epidemiology and hemodynamics. Cardiology is the field that best marries these two interests. \n As a researcher, my areas of focus are disease prevention, cardiac imaging and cardio-oncology, a relatively new field in which cardiologists help cancer patients and providers navigate cardiac issues that can arise during treatment. Dr Swiger has been my Cardiologist since 2019. His in-office clinical mannerism has been professional, courteous and very friendly. He's an exceptional clinician with very good listening skills and I've never felt rushed. He can discuss/translate what I believe to be complex cardiac diagnostics into layman terms. He gives his opinion on results and is gently insistent to letting the patient know what is urgent and open to what course of action can be patiently followed. I not only highly recommend him but he should be cloned so he isn't spread so thinly. Hopefully he won't seek other opportunities.

Wonderful visit with Dr. Swiger. Attentive to my issue. Knew what I was there for. Capable and competent. Friendly. Encouraging. On the other hand, Medical Assistant Julia was hostile, rude, excessively loud, in a big hurry to get out of the exam room, and unable to pronounce the names of the medications that she wanted me to confirm. This started when she called me in from the waiting room, so I had NOT had time to offend her as the reason for her attitude. Almost all of the staff at Novant Health Heart & Vascular, except Julia, represent your institution well. Julia is the exception. She does not represent you well..
