Here for a MRI and instead of waiting in a actual lobby they bring you back to MRI department and seat you in a tiny DISGUSTING bathroom. She calmly says "have a seat in the small blue chair and I will go over your paperwork". My first reaction was to look up and all I see is a TOILET. I say to her "why do you have me in a bathroom"? She said "oh this is where we do are screening and have patients undress if needed". Remind you this MRI is of one knee, no contrast, no removal of any clothes. I then say"do you not have a actual waiting area, she replied NO WE DON'T. Ok so while I sit 15 min in a bathroom waiting I figured I would snap pictures for all to see how horrible this experience was. I was about to vomit it smelled so bad in here!!! This hospital has some messed up priorities for sure. To make things worse, right outside of the restroom was a nice chair, so why not allow us patients to wait there or just leave us in the lobby until you are ready.

I am a TPN patient and had to go to ER for blood cultures, so I made the decision to try UNC Johnston, being it is a closer commute. I usually travel 1.5hrs to Hillsborough or Chapel Hill. I was admitted and should have a 6 day stay. I also have short gut which leaves me with an illiostomy and urostomy. Anyone with short gut knows you eat several small amounts of food a day because food passes through with no absorption causing frequent hunger. My point is the food & nutrition system here is a BIG zero! The manger over this needs to sincerely see how UNC Chapel hill and UNC Hillsborough food and nutrition operates and truly consider making changes for the patients. At UNC Johnston, they bring the food way too early leaving me starving til next meal. No way to retrieve food or microwave food. They say just ask but when I do , it is obvious that it is a bother so I don't ask. There needs to be a much better system for food and nutrition for their patients, especially short gut patients. I even spoke to the staff member in food & nutrition about my hunger and eating time concerns , she assured me she would speak to someone to see what they could do to help me but that was the last of it. Some staff were awesome some were not professional at all. There was one day that I should have gotten meds that I never did. (Potassium fluids & protonix). My nurse clearly stated that she was just really worried about one of her other patients and apologized for not being available, leaving me to feel like I didn't matter much. The ER however was phenomenal! They don't play around! Great job to the ER department! I have been 3 times and all 3 times they were great! Housekeeping was also great! Parking here is good. The gift shop is very nice. The cafeteria prices are insanely high for the quality of the food! I hope this helps anyone who is considering healthcare at this facility.

My mom was in and out of this hospital for the most part of 2024 with cancer and blood transfusions. As most employees were great, there were two nurses that cared for mama that were outstanding. A white nurse, Annette and a black nurse, Sophia. They went beyond to take care of mama's needs. They both deserve a raise. I hope if I am ever admitted to UNC Health in Smithfield I have one or both of these great ladies. Keep up the good work, Annette and Sophia!

My experience as a nursing student during this clinical rotation was extremely disheartening and emotionally distressing. I have never encountered such unprofessional and unkind behavior from a group of nurses. As a student, I came with the expectation of being guided, supported, and given the opportunity to learn. Unfortunately, the nurse I was assigned to repeatedly excluded me from participating, intentionally blocked my view during patient care, and spoke negatively about me to other staff members while I was present. This experience left me feeling humiliated, unsupported, and deeply discouraged. It not only disrupted my ability to learn but also had a significant impact on my mental and emotional well-being for the rest of the day. I truly hope no other student has to endure such treatment in what should be a positive and educational environment.

Its been worst my wife was experiancing breathing issues it took almost 2 hours to see physician and still no medicines or no treatment has been started. But lady came to take insurance details. For them making money from insurance comes first they dont care of human life and not care about emergencies in er room. Also we were given bed in aisle which was too worst
