My Dad spent his last 2 weeks alive at this hospital. The care team on the 5th floor critical care is absolutely amazing!!! He kept saying while he could talk how wonderful, nice and caring the nurses were to him. Not only did they make sure he was comfortable they even kept checking on me and my daughter. Alexis, Vickie, and Rachel are a God send! The most caring women ever! I'm sooooo Thankful he had wonderful people around him during his passing.

A general rule for the hospital is a 40 minute wait time for a nurse to come to you after requesting their presence. My first nurse continually forgot to bring requested items, like slippers. I had to ask 3 times. Also, she unplugged certain machinery/monitors and then forgot to plug them back in until I pointed it out an hour later, which meant that she also wasn't watching any of the monitors. I asked for no students during my delivery. I was told only the necessary staff would be there and no students would be present. A student ended up arriving during my pushing. And then the student was delivering my baby while being actively coached on how to deliver the baby. The student then continued on various tasks like placenta removal, etc... The damn equipment kept beeping loudly at random times. Both in Active Labor and in Postpartum. These machine warnings would of course not bring in any nurses. We could only get someone to come in when my husband went out and personally requested a nurse to come right away since a machine flagged something as abnormal. The new nurses would simply come in and mute the machines without problem solving or simply UNPLUG the machine and then leave without another word. There were two good nurses, excellent even. When they came into the room, they realized immediately that we weren't getting the services necessary for existing in the hospital and started helping us immediately and getting the proper people to come and help us. Unsanitary conditions: I stayed there for 35 hours, and the trash was taken out only once at the 3 hour mark, while I was still in active labor. There was nowhere for us nor the nurses to throw bloody pads or dirty diapers into. The bins were overflowing. None of the staff were wearing masks. Several nurses were coughing and had to step out of the room to continue coughing after a few minutes. One of the nurses came in with a pen, put on gloves, grabbed and used the pen and the computer, and then put her finger inside the baby's mouth. We are very fortunate that our baby is healthy. I was neglected after the baby's delivery. They had the immediate routine checkups within the first hour or so, but no one else came in the room for the next 4 hours. I was sitting in my own blood and waste for 4 hours. I was still numb from epidural and needed assistance getting to and from the bathroom. My husband and mother had to change the sheets/pads under me. I had to use my own diaper since the room didn't have any diapers or we couldn't find them. It was embarrassing, frustrating, and I felt abandoned by the hospital. In addition to everything above, I was left alone by the nurses and they did not ensure I knew what to do regarding feeding and caring for the baby. I'm very glad that I did my own research ahead of time, because I received instruction from the lactation nurses 19 hours, 19 HOURS, after delivery on how to feed my baby.

My mother in law had a heart attack and needed the services of the ER at Novant Matthews. The care she received was so fantastic. The empathy shown by all of the staff was moving the Doctors and nurses all communicated everything. I am not usually easily impressed but on Friday Nov 21 ALL of the staff were 5 Star Care. Thank you all!

Christopher Reynolds is the worst MD ive ever experienced! He discharged me despite what the nuero doctor recommended. He didnt have the decency to come speak with me about my lab concerns. He discharged me by calling my room phone, never in my life experienced that. He's very nonchalant, and doesnt care. Rewind back to how they treat black women, I was hospitalized alone. I had already been at cmc prior for a week and a half. I told them hospitals give me anxiety, but I dont regularly take anything for it its only there that I get it. They refused to give me anything, some of the medications I was receiving gave me anxiety. I'm not a pill taker, even after surgery I had one oxy it was to strong for me. I go back in my chart to see they did a drug abuse test on me without my consent, after I asked for anxiety meds. Mind you they were saying I had a post surgery stroke. Why would you drug test me? Ive never used drugs a day in my life, they gaslight black women
