My experience with Dr. Ejeh began with hope and ended with harm. I requested her as my post-op provider after experiencing serious complications following bariatric surgery with another surgeon in her practice. Initially, she seemed engaged and supportive. But that shifted drastically at our first post-op appointment.
When I explained that the operating surgeon had admitted to not closing the fascia at one incision (a fact with clear clinical relevance), she dismissed it entirely, stating, "I've done many surgeries with him and he always closes the fascia," and "I'm not going to get into any he-said, she-said." This wasn't gossip, I was reporting surgical consequences to inform my follow-up care. Her unwillingness to engage on that basis set the tone for everything that followed.
I also raised concerns about opioid withdrawal, which I was experiencing after being discharged on high-dose narcotics with no tapering plan. My symptoms were severe: tremors, hot/cold flashes, nausea, and inability to eat or drink. Dr. Ejeh told me, bluntly, that managing that "wasn't her job" and to "talk to your primary care provider." There was no coordination, no support, no acknowledgment that this was part of the surgical recovery process.
At a later hospitalization for ongoing abdominal pain, new imaging showed that a hematoma, previously shrinking, had slightly increased in size. I was shown these images by another provider, and the change was noted in my chart. But Dr. Ejeh dismissed the findings entirely, denied that the hematoma had changed, and told me there was "nothing wrong" with me surgically. She then discharged me from her care.
I told her I still believed something was wrong, and asked if someone could begin looking into non-surgical causes like GERD. Instead of helping, she became defensive and combative. When I expressed frustration at her tone, she told me I was the "common denominator" in conflicts and continued speaking down to me. At that point, I said I no longer felt comfortable continuing care with her and asked to see someone else. She later reframed this as my "request to transfer," despite being the one who initiated discharge.
She agreed to refer me elsewhere, but referred me to the wrong office and discharged me completely. The final blow came when I read her chart notes, which included inflammatory character judgments, labeling me "manipulative" and "disruptive." These were not clinical assessments. They were retaliatory. And they've now made it incredibly difficult to find another surgeon willing to take me on.
I am left managing unresolved complications, alone, not because I refused care, but because I asked questions and challenged inconsistencies. That should never result in blacklisting a patient from ongoing treatment.
If you are a patient who values collaborative care, open communication, or medical accountability, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. Dr. Ejeh may appear professional at first, but my experience reveals a pattern of defensiveness, gaslighting, and blame-shifting that no patient should have to navigate, especially in a vulnerable post-operative state.

I don't know what any of these people with the bad reviews are talking about. I met Dr. Ejah a little over 10 years ago. I walked into Cape Fear on 9/11 and found out I had cancer. It was very serious, and I had to have major surgery. I was scared, confused, and angry. How did I go from being healthy to unimaginably sick in 24 hours? I wasn't the easiest patient because I was in pain and rude. She saw me as a human being and treated me as such. I didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of, and she still thought enough of my life to save it. 10 years later, I am Dr. Fletcher, and I am living a life I never dreamed of back then. My dad had to have surgery today to remove his gallbladder and a bunch of gallstones, and she walked in (I wasn't aware ahead of time she was the surgeon and she didn't know that was my dad) and she immediately gave me the biggest hug as if it hadn't been 7/8 years since we last saw each other. I have nothing but respect for this woman and what she does. Thank you, Dr. Ejah, for saving me in more ways than one and now helping my dad.

This doctor is EXTREMELY snobby. She loves to talk over you, as a patient, and talk down to you as if you're inferior. She doesn't listen to what the patient is telling her about themselves. You can express concern about something and she totally ignores your concerns about YOUR BODY like she knows better than you what YOU'RE FEELING IN YOUR BODY. This Dr is just flat out rude! They will bring you back to a room and you will sit in that room longer than 30 to 45 minutes and sometimes longer before she even comes in, NOT their fault, the staff. This Dr is vindictive as well, because she will take the time to reach out to other doctors that does what she does and tell them not to see you as a patient if you leave her unsatisfied, and tell her you will look for another doctor. This is an office setting but her bedside manners are BAD BAD BAD! if you can avoid this doctor and can find a different doctor to take care of your issues, DO SO! Every time I've gone to this office, I come in feeling quite pleasant, and happy, but by the time I left this office EVERY time, I ALWAYS left angry, blood pressure elevated, and wishing I never stepped foot in that office. Do yourself a big favor, FIND ANOTHER DR BEFORE YOU WASTE YOUR TIME GOING TO THIS OFFICE. YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY WITH ANYTHING, NOR WILL YOUR ISSUES BE TAKEN SERIOUS. The staff, OTHER THAN THIS DR, are all very nice. They treat you well. They express more concern about the patients than this Dr does. The attitude that this Dr KEEPS, I think it's safe to say she's in it for the money, and not for the patients and their well being.

My sister had a breast biopsy done with clip placement (marker) last year and has kept repeated abscesses with pain in that area every since then. I highly recommended her to see Dr. Ejeh on good faith, as I felt she would help my sister, only for her not to do so! .She was in pain the day she came to her office, with an active abscess in place and nothing was done! We as providers should understand that when a patient is in pain, they will lash out, because of it, but we should NOT take it to heart, nor deter us from helping them when needed! She was then referred to another surgeon in same practice, but due to encounter with Dr. Ejeh, he will not see her either! I entrusted my sister's wellbeing to you and you failed to deliver the proper care she requested! As providers, we have ALL taken an oath to take care for our patients and to the very best we can, to the best of our ability. I am very disappointed in how my sister's care was handled!
