December 18, 2025 - Cape Fear Hospital ER I want to thank the ER staff for the care I received. During intake, the nurse attempted to explain the severity of my injury to the front desk, but I was still assigned a level 4 (less urgent) despite severe head pain. Special thanks to Ryan, who later took the time to thoroughly review and correct my file, ensuring it accurately reflected that a 40-lb light struck me on the top of my head, not the incorrect initial intake notes. That correction was critical, as I was ultimately diagnosed with a concussion. PA Shaffer clearly explained my condition, Sylvia ensured I had what I needed before discharge, and Nicole, RN, carefully explained my medications and guided me through the checkout process. All were Awesome made me feel safe and comfortable. While the wait was long, I truly appreciate the professionalism and care once I was seen. ********************************************* Seeing so many people in the emergency room was a powerful reminder of how important it is to take care of our health every day. I'm 55 years old and often told I don't look my age, which I credit to living a healthy lifestyle. I run a YouTube channel, PeoplesHealthyLiving2626, Where I promote healthy living and pro-aging. Experiences like this reinforce my mission--to encourage people to make choices that support long-term wellness and independence. While we can't prevent every accident, we can invest in our health so our bodies are better prepared when life happens.

I went into the Hospital on December 9th with chest pains I was admitted to the hospital on December 9th. I stayed in the hospital until Friday December 12th. I was release from the hospital on December 12th. The nurses, doctors and staff was wonderful. One of the people that really stood out was Nurse Sally. She was warm, understanding, caring person that that would go out of her way to make sure that I was comfortable. The only problem I had was December the 12th, my children nurse came into the room and told me that I was going home and that I could call my wife to pick me up. I explained to her that my wife was handicapped and could not come up to the room to pick me up and if she want me to call my wife to pick me up so I could tell her to come . The nurse said yes go ahead and call your wife you are going to be releasing within an hour. I waited 15 minutes I didn't call my wife we stay approximately for 5 minutes from the hospital. What's my wife got to the hospital she called me and told me she was downstairs, I then pressed the nurses button and told the person that answered the phone to let my nurse know that my wife was downstairs, she said that she would. About 45 minutes went by I pressed the button and ask the operator to let the nurse know that my wife was outside she stated that the nurse was at a meeting. ( Note : I still had both IVs in my arms. when the nurse told me I was going home she refused to take them out because she didn't want me to leave at that time and that she would come back in and get take them out) Over a hour went by my wife was still outside waiting, the security officer kept walking by her car and asking her while she waiting. I then called another nurse and explain my situation and she told me that she would let my nurse know. About 20 minutes went by and then I heard a knock on my door it was someone with a wheelchair it was patients transport people. The woman stated that she was coming to pick me up. I told her I couldn't go nowhere because I had my IVs in both of my arms and I have not received my discharge orders. The person with very upset because I wasn't ready. she had other places to go, she went to the nurses station and talk to someone at the desk. She came back to my room. she waited about 20 minutes and then left and I never saw her no more. Another 15 minutes went by then my nurse came into my room and remove my IV's. she had to go get a wheelchair and escort me downstairs my wife was waiting. My wife waited in the car for 3 hours or more before I was released. I thought that was very unfair to my handicap wife's. Other than that incident everything was wonderful the staff in the kitchen were wonderful. The person that clean my room did a great job overall. Everyone did a wonderful job and I would like to say thank you.

We could not have had a better experience on the pediatric floor. I have never had an experience at another hospital like this ever. My son was admitted into PICU for a virus and blood transfusion. The level of comfort and explanation/thoroughness you would want for your child they fully and completely give it to you. I don't remember everyone's name but everyone was so sweet and generous with their time. Kanthony (RN), Tanner, and Heather (phlebotomist) just to name a few people that helped us. Don't hesitate to bring your child here.

I wanted to mention how great the medic Curtis is in the emergency department. He was amazing at showing patient empathy, went above and beyond to make all the patients in the waiting area as comfortable as possible. Curtis has a very positive attitude and remained positive and very professional while handling high-stress situations during the times the patients were being impatient and very rude. He consistently ensured that patient safety and comfort were his top priorities. Anyone can tell that he has a passion about providing outstanding patient care. Cape Fear Valley Health is very blessed to have such a great individual like Curtis on their team, and i am very grateful for everything he's helped with during my time there today/tonight.

I received absolutely great care!! From my entry to my exit! Everyone that i encountered from the Doctors to the ladies cleaning my room all had great attitudes, and made me feel welcomed VS being a burden. The Doctors gave clear clarity concerning my issue. They were willing to answer and questions and concerns I may have had to ensure my mind was at peace. The nurses, all of them came running if and when I pushed my emergency button. The Cafeteria team was also great they were very patient with me, as I had surgery and moved a bit slower than normal. Even the guy who transported me was very pleasant, and had a positive energy that made me feel at ease. I remember him saying,"man you 50"?. I said yes. He said you dont look it at all. He definitely earned points for that.lol. This was the best hospital experience I've ever had, and I've had plenty. Thank you to the Staff and Team of Cape FEAR for providing me with excellent care. Im home resting now and doing well.
