Dr Daw was recommended by a previous, recently retired physician in his Cary office. He provided me with a very thorough and accurate diagnosis, came in on Saturday to follow-up, which he often does. He immediately contacted relevant Wake Med Cary and Apex (NC) sites for diagnostic imaging. He also conveyed the urgency of moving fast to diagnostic scanning to support surgical or stent intervention. He did his job well and conveyed great knowledge and urgency. However, my wife and I were deeply concerned by the long lead times of Wake Med facilities in providing scanning promptly ordered by Dr. Daw. Doctor Daw conveyed to me the urgency with which I needed to proceed to appropriate intervention, probably Open Heart surgery, once the scanning was done. Wake Med facilities in Cary and Apex took 6 days and 5 days to provide scanning of the condition of my heart, even as Dr. Daw conveyed to me the urgent need to schedule surgical or stent intervention to treat the malady, contingent on scanning results. With symptoms persisting and family-member nursing personnel expressing urgency, we called an EMS on a Saturday night, 8 days after my original office appointment with Dr. Daw, and EMS got us to Rex Raleigh within half an hour. . Cardiologists there immediately used previous tests and some of their own, and achieved the stent effort on Monday, and Open Heart surgery Tuesday, when the initial exam of the stenting procedure determined inadequacy of coronary arteries for a complete stenting intervention. I believe that Dr. Daw is a remarkable cardiologist with a great since of urgency. My experience with him was spoiled, though, by the slowness of Wake Med facilities in responding in a timely manner to his requests. Daw was ready to proceed instantly upon a report of their Thursday scanning results, which were delayed too long for a pre-weekend decision...
