I had open heart surgery 62 years ago. I had been experiencing several cardiac issues over the last three years. I was referred to Dr. von Boxtel in November 2024. After meeting with Dr. von Boxtel January 10 2025 we scheduled my procedure for January 28. Dr. von Boxtel performed several procedures, repairing with an aneurysm repair while the others too many to list. At 62 years old I have never had any type of surgery & always kept myself in pretty good shape. When doctors informed me that I had an aortic aneurism and a bad valve that was defective since birth I was completely in shock. I just could not believe it was true & got a couple of opinions. I was told it was nick named "widow maker" because most people don't know they have it till it's too late. The thought of cutting my chest open and replacing things and putting me back together absolutely scared me out of my mind. I really wanted to take my chances but was talked into going ahead with it by family & friends. Dr. van Boxtel is no less than FANTASTIC! He met with me and showed me what he was going to do & the steps of the procedure. In July of 2021 he did his magic, and my recovery went well with very little pain if any. Discomfort, yes but pain, not really. Even my scare is very slight and almost undetectable under my slightly hairy chest. If you need your suite or dress altered, he would be the man if this heart surgery stuff doesn't work out. I was back to work in 3 weeks & 7 months after my procedure I feel total back to normal & being told by many that I look great.
