I'm writing this review because I'm home now and finally feel safe to. If you are going to undergo any type of heart surgery, RUN. I'm not being dramatic. I was referred and Dr Lutz who was supposed to be one of the best for bypass surgery. Imagine all the conversations that you had with your provider before surgery including concerns about pain, and the fear of recovery. Now imagine all those conversations never happened or the advice you were given was wrong. Do you think I was told I would wake up intubated in the ICU trying to talk over the tube because I was terrified and in so much pain. I have permanent nerve damage to my tongue now. The reason you become scared is because all your sedation and pain medication is stopped. CVICU protocol is to only treat pain with oral medications after your extubated- from open heart surgery! I had to beg for more pain relief, I thought I was going to pass out from the pain. Their pain protocol is inhumane in my opinion. I had to call case managers, patient relations, no one helped. Then, they want you out not even 3 days post op. There was no safe discharge until I advocated and begged for help once discharged. I knew I couldn't take care of myself. I remember sobbing and begging the nurses to please help me. When I got turned down for rehab and finally decided to go home with home care services, which by the way doesn't cover your everyday needs, I was shocked to find out no pain medication would be given after I left the hospital. I was talked down to, made to look and feel like a drug seeker. Let me preface by saying I've been in the hospital many times and this is the first time in my entire life where I didn't feel safe or I didn't feel heard, and felt like a nuisance. St Joseph's you can reply to call a number but chances are I called it already. If you care for yourself, or have a loved one; I'm begging you to go somewhere else. Just because an individual provider has a good reputation, doesn't mean they are going to execute it. One of worst experiences of my life.

St. Joseph's Health Hospital is a top-tier medical complex that, in addition to the Hospital, includes a College of Nursing, a psychiatric emergency program, and a physician's office building. I would easily entrust my health and that of my loved ones in the hands of the specialists there. Jessica, Greg, Kyle, Lori, and the entire staff at St. Joseph's Health are dedicated to doing absolutely no harm. It has been a source of great pride to be the chosen provider of storage solutions for them.

The ICU nursing staff was extremely compassionate and kind to my father in law who recently passed away. They were careful to explain everything they were doing, and made sure he was comfortable. The nursing staff was professional and made this difficult experience manageable. We are so grateful for the loving care he received his last moments on earth. Thank you to the staff at St. Joe's!

My wife recently had bariatric surgery(3 months ago) and experienced extreme abdominal pain and nausea one night. She got light headed and saw stars. We called an ambulance and we elected for them to bring her to St. Joe. She was given a wheelchair and her vitals and body fluids were taken. She was made to sit upright despite telling the nurses that she was very lightheaded and dizzy. She was told to "try and lean back" in a chair that was straight up against the wall. I finally got upset and asked them to bring her a bed and get her a damn room. This was after 2+ hours. In the meantime, they hadn't checked on her at all, and she coughed so hard she peed herself. No offer for a change of clothes or anything. I had to ask twice for a blanket because my wife was freezing due to not having shoes on before she left and being covered in urine. She's been given 2 nausea meds, which haven't helped, and nothing for pain. They did a CT scan and we're still waiting for the results. Would not recommend!

My husband was in recently for total hip surgery. The overall experience was positive and almost everyone we encountered were pleasant and helpful but two ladies really stood out. He was admitted to the fourth floor where Radhika was working and she was a ray of sunshine. So very friendly, helpful and just a real asset to your facility. She could not have been any nicer. The nurse that had his case was Tamara. I hoped I spelled that correctly. She was the very soul of patience. Also she had me chuckling because she's obviously seen it all and she's not taking any excuses. Loved her tough love. He's doing well a few weeks after the surgery so many thanks to everyone involved in his care.
